Tour Edge Hot Launch Men’s HL3 to-Go Sr Complete Golf Set Review – Are They Any Good?

Finding a set of golf clubs that is ideal for beginner and high-handicap golfers at an affordable price AND generate a consistent swing, contact with the golf ball, accuracy, and distance.

There are many sets available that will provide some of the features, but seldom will all of the features have combined in one set.

Recently I bought a set of Tour Edge HL3 clubs and had the pleasure of trying them out.

After playing a few rounds with the set I knew I had to do a Tour Edge Hot Launch Men’s HL3 to-Go Sr complete golf set review.

Who Are They For?

The Tour Edge Hot Launch Men’s HL3 complete golf set is aimed at aspiring golfers that want to cut their high-handicap but cannot afford a complete set of high-premium golf clubs and the bag.

You want a set that will grow you as a golfer and not require frequent replacement. At below $1000, the Tour Edge Hot Launch set will keep you smiling.

This set of clubs offers you a sufficient offset to fight a slice and yet it works against a heavy draw bias.

Add the wide sole to the combination and you will find ample forgiveness.

What Clubs Are In The Bag

This set provides an impressive 12 clubs in total.

• 10.5° driver
• #3 and #5 wood
• #4 and 5 hybrids
• #6 and #7 iron-woods
• #8-SW irons
• Putter

Driver

The HL3 Driver features a forged titanium head with 10.5-degrees of loft as standard. A 9.5-degree loft is also available on request.

Extra flex on the face is the result of variable thickness technology with more contact points. This increased flex promotes higher ball speed and the additional contact points add to the forgiveness on off-center hits.

Power Channel is yet another piece of technology implemented by Tour Edge for increased ball speed. This channel is located on the front of the driver behind the clubface and helps to deliver an increased speed and less spin.

A rear sole weight puts the center of gravity deeper to provide greater speed, less spin, and a higher launch.

Unlike most competitors that provide drivers to fight the dreaded slice, Tour Edge offers an offset to fight the slice yet include their anti-left technology to fight a heavy draw bias.
This combination decreases the workability of the club, but you can expect to hit straighter shots with a soft fade as the most prominent result.

The Tour Edge Hot Launch HL3 driver looks good without looking cheap. There is a single alignment dot on the clean-looking black crown. A hint of bright yellow paint fill provides contrast on the chrome and black sole.

Standard shafts used by Tour Edge are the 60-gram UST Mamiya shaft available in a variety of flexes that will be fitted to your swing.

A reasonably loud sound off the face at impact is louder than most metal drivers. The better the contact with the sweet spot, the louder the sound. You will clearly hear when the shot was off-center.

This is a driver that produces mid-range spin that can compete with some of the longer drivers available.

Driver rating 8.1

Woods

The set comes standard with the 3-wood and 5-wood.

HL3 woods are available in traditional and offset configurations.

A thinner and lighter 17-4 forged steel crown combined with the 450 SS hyper steel used in the manufacturing of the variable face thickness technology provides extra forgiveness and added distance.

Innovative design elements created an aerodynamic shape for faster clubhead speed, lower center of gravity, and an added weight for a higher MOI and an easier to launch design. This is especially helpful on tight fairway lies.

Headcovers included.

Fairway woods rating 7.5

Hybrid

Standard in the set is the #4 and #5 hybrids with the option of #3 and #6 hybrids available.
The HL3’s 450 stainless steel head with its forged maraging steel face features a low-profile design and incorporates variable face thickness technology.

A thinner redesigned face offer a trampoline effect for increased distance

Headcovers included.

Hybrid rating 8

Iron-woods

This is a category that is unique to Tour Edge. A combination of the hybrid and iron categories. The name spells out exactly what it is, Part iron, part wood. It sounds simple, but the club still falls in that muddy hybrid y definition

Your #6 and #7 clubs fall into this category

A hollow hyper steel body with a thin forged steel face for increased head volumes provide added forgiveness and greater trampoline effect and added distance

It has a thick silver topline with a modest black backside proportion keeping the overall dimension of the head down to a reasonable size.

From the contact point of view, it looks like a pure iron with a sleek silhouette and a classic two-tone finish.

Adding to the forgiveness and game improvement characteristics there is an offset.
The steel hollow body construction of the iron-woods provides a moderate metallic sound that is rather pleasing on the ear on well-struck shots. Off-center hits produce a slight thud sound.

The sole provides all the information you need in a combination of silver, black, and yellow paint.

As with the rest of the set, the iron-woods are fitted with a UST Mamiya shaft.

Headcovers included

Irons

Traditional undercut cavity back irons use a soft 431 stainless steel in the construction and are available in an 8-Iron, 9-Iron, and pitching wedge. The soft face provides a better feel.
Advanced toe weighting is achieved through the weight being distributed into the sole, away from the face, for greater stability, a better launch angle, and the forgiveness found throughout the rest of the HL3 clubs.

At address, you see the thicker topline and decent offset. The irons feature a nice brushed satin look which wears significantly better than polished chrome.

The sole is polished chrome with a geometrical accent that flows with the angle of the design.

The cavity back features the Tour Edge badging which is a mix of chrome and accent yellow.

Irons rating 7.8

Wedges

There are a 56-degree Super Spin pitching wedge and sand wedge included in the set

Putter

A Hot Launch mallet putter with a high MOI is included in the set. Alignment is made easy through the marking on the top edge and lines on the surface of the mallet.
