Taylormade Stealth Vs Stealth Plus Vs Stealth HD Review 2023

Taylormade have made a revolutionary move in the driver industry with the new Stealth Models that have a carbonwood face instead of the Titanium which had been popular up to now.

With the limits of what is posssible from Titanium plateuing, Taylormade are extremely confident that they will never revert back to the material again in their drivers and the Taylormade Stealth, Stealth Plus and Stealth HD are the first to utilize the new material.

The Regular Stealth Model is built for the masses and will suit 60% of golfers, it is the longest and most forgiving option with a mid high launch.

The Stealth Plus+ has a sliding 10g weight on the sole that allows customization to the players swing, precise shot shaping and a lower spin rate.

The Stealth HD is a draw bias driver, created to eliminate a slice in a way that doesn’t sacrifice forgiveness.

Carbon Faced drivers have been tried before but never successfully because its too thick and destroys flex while deadening the sound.

Taylormade have found method of halving the thickness with 60 thin strips of carbon which are all checked meticulously for any airbubbles, covered with nanotexture and finished with Polyurethane to protect the ball speed and sound.

The biggest boon of these new drivers is the weight savings which allows for an 11% bigger face and more junk in the trunkwhich provides at least 1mph more ball speed than the Sim2 but up to 5mph more in some cases, a truely impressive jump.

Taylormade Stealth Vs Stealth Plus

The Stealth is the most popular option for most golfers, it is a straight forward driver with no adjustable weighting. It offers a mid-low launch and a mid-low spin rate with its Fujikara Ventus Red 5 shaft.

Expect this driver to be long and forgiving with high MOI, CT and COR scores across the large face.

The Stealth Plus is the lower spin model and it will suit those looking for more distance due to the lower spin rates.

It also has the 10g slidable weight for anyone looking for a precise configuration, workability and shot shaping capabilities.

This is reserved for slightly better players who know how to mazimize the benefit of the adjustable weight but it does give up 15% MOI due to the sliding weight.

Taylormade Stealth Vs Stealth HD

As mention the Stealth is going to be the longest and most forgiving for the majority of golfers but the Stealth HD model is built with slicers in mind.

A slice is a swing imperfection that you should attempt to resolve by making sure your loft, shaft length, flex are correct, but if all else fails, the Stealht HD has some serious draw bias built in to keep the ball moving straight.

While you will lose distance with a swing that causes a slice, Taylormade have tailored the Stealth HD not to sacrifice forgivness across the face.

Taylormade Stealth Plus+ Vs Stealth HD

While the Stealth HD is built for slicers and slicers only, the Stealth plus can also be optimized for a slice but the 10g sliding weight will allow you to optimize for hook too by moving the weight to the other side.

While the sliding weight does lower the MOI of the Plus+, it can also be placed directly behind the face to increase the weight and energy transfer to the ball.

What All Drivers Have In Common

Aerodynamic Design

All drivers have the inertia generating, aerodynamic design that will lead to optimal swing speed just before contact is made with the ball. While this is true for the 3 drivers, the sliding weight is going to add a little bit of friction

Bigger Faces

The face is 11% bigger than the Sim 2 in all 3 Stealth models, leading to more forgivness and consistency in the strokes.

Max Forgiveness

The well know Taylormade Thru slot speed pocket, offers maximum launc and ball speed when hit low on the face while the Progressive Inverted Cone Technology will expand the sweet spot across most of the remaining face.

Is The Taylormade Stealth Worth It?

The Taylormade Stealth is quite expensive currently but it is certainly worth if you want maximum distance from your driver or you are early adapter who wants to get on board with the Carbon Wood face before everybody else.

Some complaints include scuffing to the face and the nanoparticles getting a bit scuffed but we loved every minute of testing on the new Stealth driver range.

Geometric Design: The driver is designed with an inertia generating design that adds club head speed at the crucial moment on the strike. The Driver also went through substantial accoustic testing.

Rear Back Weighting: The big weight saving from the face is transfer low in the rear of the driver for a low COG and high MOI from the club.

Thru Slot Speed Pocket: A Mainstay in the Taylormade drivers nowadays is the Thru Slot Speed Pocket which generates more ball speed and a higher launch for shots struck low on the face of the club.
