The 12^th (and some believe the ultimate) version of the Srixon Soft Feel balls are boasted to be the longest. Overall, the compression rating of these balls is 71 and has an energy gradient core that progressively gets firmer towards the outer layers.

The firm, thin outer layer imparts an astounding amount of spin control for a ball this soft and for one that plays so long with woods and long irons. Our testers noted that these balls do feel soft on impact but not insubstantial as to not produce a satisfying feel at impact.

The Soft Feel balls rebound very well so almost all of that energy from your swing is preserved as it carries through the air. We would say that these balls would be ideal for players with swing speeds between 70 and 80MPH.

If you’re looking for great performance as a low handicap player, you need to check out  the Z Star balls. The cover layer of these balls is actually thicker than in previous models to allow for more precise spin control around the green.

While this may not be great news for less experienced players, advanced players will be able to use this to their distinct advantage. The Z Star’s played very well with our wedges and short irons specifically – launching high and imparting an almost perfect amount of spin.

They have a soft feel overall; but not too soft. You can actually feel them compress on the club face a bit with your driver but they rebound nicely and provide excellent carry distance. Of course, with a higher compression, you will need to have a fast swing speed to get good drive distance.

The UltiSoft White balls are a great choice for seniors because of the ultra-low compression. You can feel the ball almost compress to a pancake off of your driver and woods. But they rebound gloriously and yield really nice latter stage lift.
