Slope – Does it Turn off for Tournaments?

The Anyork Golf Rangefinder does have a slope mode. And for the uninitiated, slope mode is a setting that you can choose that enables the device to calculate the true distance between yourself and your intended target even if the terrain is sloping upward or downward.

With the Anyork Golf Rangefinder you get the degree of the slope, the horizontal distance and the true distance adjusted for incline/decline. And if you are a tournament player, don’t fret. The slope mode of the Anyork Golf Rangefinder can be easily switched off with the touch of a button.

You can also adjust the distance measurements between meters and yards. The Anyork Golf Rangefinder is a laser rangefinder so you simply find your target on the eyepiece, click the top button and you will get your distance. It utilizes a 6x magnification lens and an LCD display.

 

Speed of Use and Accuracy

We tested the Anyork Golf Rangefinder on two full rounds of golf. And just to make sure that the distance readings we were getting from it were true, we brought along a proven golf rangefinder device and compared every distance reading.

What we found was that the Anyork Golf Rangefinder was accurate to within 5 yards for distances that were up to 600 yards away. Keep in mind that the Anyork Golf Rangefinder is advertised to measure distances up to 1,500 yards away but there was no way we could test accuracy that far.

What we can say with confidence though is that the Anyork Golf Rangefinder gave accurate distances to targets that were up to 600 yards away. There is also a scan mode that lets you see distances to multiple targets with one panning motion.

We had no problems with the speed of the Anyork Golf Rangefinder either. It picked up general targets in a few seconds each time. And in flag seeking mode, it would usually take about 6 seconds for the device to lock on and confirm the target with a little vibration.

 

Weight and Feel

Keep in mind that this is a very affordable device. We think that one of the areas that the company skimped on was the materials because the Anyork Golf Rangefinder is very light. It is just above 6 ounces with the battery loaded.

But the weight belies the overall performance of the Anyork Golf Rangefinder. It is very light and the chassis feels a bit flimsy, but that didn’t keep it from working great. It is comfortable in the hand and you can adjust the lens based on your eyesight.

 

Battery Life

The Anyork Golf Rangefinder comes with 2 CR2 batteries and in our two rounds of golf, we were unable to reach the maximum battery life. But we did our research and found that a single CR2 battery should last the Anyork Golf Rangefinder at least 3 months of weekly golf so that’s pretty good.

Cons:

• No rechargeable battery
• Locks onto flags only, not pins
• The chassis seems a bit weak
• Flag needs to be within 200 yards to lock onto it

The Anyork Golf Rangefinder has been very well-received by customers and now we know why. While it is not the flashiest golf rangefinder on the market, it provides reliable accuracy and all the golfing features you will need at a price that you can’t disagree with.

At just about $140, the Anyork Golf Rangefinder is a steal. While we wish the device felt more solidly built, we can overlook this flaw by convincing ourselves that the manufacturers cut corners to get the net weight down and not just to be cheap.
