The Best Heavy Putter in 2023

If you are relatively new to the game of golf, the title of this article may be a bit confusing to you.

“Why would I want to use a heavy putter?” you may be wondering  to yourself.

The case for a heavy putter can be argued because a heavy putter will impart more stability to your stroke.

While some players may prefer a lighter putter because they feel it will be less taxing on their body or easier to stroke with, lighter is not always better when it comes to putting.

In fact, most PGA pros prefer a heavy putter because according to them, it makes your stroke more pendulum-like.

With a heavier putter, you won’t have to move your body as much and put as much power behind the stroke.

The general rule of thumb is the fewer moving parts, the more accurate you will be. Thus, a heavier putter – one that requires your body to move less – the more accurate the putt will be.

A heavier putter will allow you to condense your stroke and eliminate more opportunities for hitches that will affect accuracy.

In the following list, we have highlighted some of the best heavy putters in 2023 for players of all skill levels so let’s get its started!

Loft: 3 degrees

Selling Points:

  • 2-ball shape
  • Stroke Lab shaft

The Microhinge Star inserts make for nearly immediate roll so your putt stroke can be condensed to a high degree. You can choose from a 2-ball model or a triple track alignment. Our testers noted that it is incredibly easy to frame the ball at address and that it holds it’s line very well.

#9 – Boccieri Golf Heavy Weight Series L3-H Heavy Putter

Loft: 3 degrees

Lie: 70

Selling Points:

  • CNC milled face
  • 465 gram head weight
  • Black PVD finish

This is one of the heaviest putters on our list and while our higher handicap testers got good use form it, our lower handicap testers were able to sink incredible putts with it. The milled face is thin and consistent throughout so forgiveness is surprisingly high in a putter of this caliber.

The weight will take some getting used to but once you do, you will be able to sink putts from 50+ feet out. It holds it’s line very well and imparts very stable roll tendencies. This putter has a tacky, yet firm feel due in part to the Winn mid-sized grip and the heavy head.

Pros:

  • Head cover included
  • Comfortable grip
  • Heavy design
