Ping G425 vs Titleist TSi3 Driver Comparison and Review

It’s that time of year again when the market is awash with new drivers and clubs, they always seem to push the boundaries of distance and forgiveness and this year is no different.

Two of the big names on the driver front are the Ping G425 and the Titleist TSi3, when two of the biggest brands bring our their latest models, everyone wants a shot. I gave them a shot and loved them both.

In this article I will run through the clubs and what they offer. We will focus on the Ping G425 LST as it is the best comparison to the Titleist. I’ll tell you my experiences with them and hopefully help you decide which one suits your game better.

Ping G425 LST

The G425 LST is the low spinning player’s driver from Ping, this is the smallest head and lowest spinning driver they make.

At 445cc this is very much a tour-preferred head with a more traditional pear-shape profile. This is the best driver Ping have made in recent years, it feels great to hit.

Titleist TSi3

Titleist have been starting to reclaim their crown in the driver game and the TSi3 is arguably the best product they’ve brought to the market.

The 460cc head is larger than some previous Titleist models but they have retained the classic shape, understated designed and soft-feel.

These drivers are so difficult to choose between. They are both absolutely phenomenal pieces of engineering and you would struggle to find two better drivers on the market.

I have given the Titleist the edge because I just love the clean perfect look at address.

Ping G425 LST Key Selling Points And Benefits

The number one benefit of this driver is the remarkable forgiveness. For a low spin tour model, the forgiveness is mind-boggling.

The club also feels solid at impact which many will love and the turbulators keep the stability of the head high. Finally, the price is incredible, that matters.

Titleist TSi3 Key Selling Points And Benefits

The aerospace technology employed in the face of the TSi3 is one of the key selling points.

They have actually found a loophole in the rules to make this one of the most efficient faces in golf, this equals distance. It is also an incredibly beautiful golf club with refined aerodynamics for speed.

The Ping G425 Driver Family

Ping have created two other drivers to go with the G425 LST.

The G425 MAX is focussed on market-leading forgiveness whilst the G425 SFT (straight-flight technology) is made to help those who slice it.

There is a driver here to make any golfer a demon off the tee.

Titleist TSi3 vs TSi2 Comparison

The TSi2 has been developed with distance and forgiveness in mind, it still produces impressively low spin though.

The TSi3 has a more traditional shaped head but the TSi2 still looks great.

The lower centre of gravity on the TSi2 makes it one of the easiest to hit drivers on the market.

How Does The G425 Compare Against The G410?

Ping really changed things up when they released the G400. Since then they have been iteratively improving on this offering which has lead to the G410 and then the G425.

The G410 and the G425 are very similar, the G425 has taken things a step further with increased speed and forgiveness.

Which One Is For You?

This is a truly difficult one to answer because, as I’ve said, these clubs are just so good and it is incredible to see how easy these low spinning heads have become.

I genuinely think this one purely comes down to looks. If you like modern looks then the Ping is for you, if not, it’s Titleist.

How Do They Compare on Performance, Distance and Feel?

On performance, these clubs are very difficult to pick apart, they are both excellent. I tried the Titleist with the Tensei AV White RAW and the Ping with the Rogue White.

The Titleist went about 4 yards further gave me a tighter dispersion, however, that could be due to shaft more than the club.

I preferred the feel and the looks of the Titleist. I have always loved the softer feel of Titleist and I also prefer the classic look of the club.

However, these points are fairly superficial and purely driven by my preferences, many will prefer the Ping and many will find it impossible to choose.

How Do They Compare On Price?

The Ping G425 is a cheaper option and could save you between £50 and £100 depending on what website you go to.

This is a considerable amount of money to save and it will definitely sway people. If you are looking for a bargain then the Ping is a better option.

Which Do We Recommend?

The Titleist TSi3 wins this one for me. The reason is that Ping have released a new driver that is slightly better than the last, Titleist have brought out a whole new offering that vastly out-performs the TS3.

Conclusion

Drivers have become so good in recent years. They have never been easier to hit and these two clubs epitomize this development.

For low spinning tour preferred models, these clubs are just astoundingly forgiving.

Whilst I have chosen one over the other here, this is a really difficult review and that is a compliment to the engineers at both Ping and Titleist.

If you are looking for a new driver please try both of these models, you will love both. Get a fitting and let the data guide you on which is best.
