Patrick Reed: Early Life And Parents

On August 5th, 1990 Patrick Nathaniel Reed was born in San Antonino, Texas to his American parents, Bill and Jeanette Reed.

Reed was born into a family of talented golfers, his grandmother and grandfather were both exceptional players which only confirms how his love for the game came about. Additionally, his aunt from his mother’s side was also a great golfer and by age 9, Reed was already taking lessons from Peter Murphey.

His childhood hero was Tiger Woods and unlike most 9-year-olds Woods was practicing at the same facility – allowing Reed to learn his ways and catch some tips from afar.

Mike Johnson, the head pro at LSU Golf Course said to Golf Monthly in an interview that there was no one more disciplined than Reed. It is not something you can teach someone, he was just born with it.

This helps us understand how at the age of just 20, Reed managed to go pro and become a huge golfing success.

Reed graduated from Augusta State University in Georgia, where he obtained a degree in business and played for their team. But Reed’s past has not always seemed so innocent.

Before going to Augusta University, he went to the University of Georgia where he pleaded guilty to underage drinking and using a fake ID. He was then sentenced to 60 hours of community service and put on probation.

It was these issues that resulted in him getting dropped from the University of Georgia’s team and eventually, leaving the university as a whole. When he was at Augusta State University, he was part of the team where he helped them get to the NCAA Division I in 2010.

It was then that he knew there was more to this than just the game of golf. Reed went professional the following year, in 2011.

Patrick Reed: Personal Life, Wife, Family, And More

Patrick is a husband and a father to two young children, his daughter Windsor-Wells and his son, Barrett Benjamin.

It was during his time at Augusta State University that Reed found himself falling in love with a beautiful blonde bombshell, despite his arrogance and ‘know-it-all’ façade. Justine was just four years older than him, but that didn’t stop him – in fact, it probably teased him more!

When Reed decided to go pro in 2011, Justine had already obtained two undergraduate degrees and was working as a nurse – the epitome of beauty and brains! Nonetheless, Justine loved the idea of being next to her soul mate on the golf course and so she soon became his caddie at all major tournaments.

Patrick mentioned to Golf Monthly that she helps him a lot when on the course and helps him think more rationally about his next money-making move!

When Patrick was only 22, he decided to Marry Justine, 26 at the time which his parents didn’t support. In return, his family and sister were not invited to the wedding and he has not made contact with them since. I guess not everything is all sunshine and rainbows after all!

It appears that Patrick has taken on Justine’s family and ignored his. Her family goes on holidays with them where they share a rental house and his mother-in-law assists with her grandchildren, something I’m sure his biological mother wishes to be part of.

It appears that the family drama has since gone public, and the dysfunction is no longer private. In 2016, Reed’s sister took to Facebook to stand up for her family and the accusations his wife and family-in-law have made about them. Mentioning that Patrick was no longer a brother but a selfish and “horrible” stranger.

Patrick Reed: Career

Despite all the family drama Reed has brought upon himself, it is no doubt he is a talented man and deserves every bit of success (well, except for that one time he was caught almost cheating).

In 2016, Reed won his first-ever FedEx Cup playoff after dealing with the off-course challenges he seemed to be facing.

It seems as though drama follows Reed. After qualifying for the Ryder Cup in 2018, there was controversy about him and partner Jordan Spieth.

However, as he does in True Reed fashion, he didn’t ever let it stop him and went on to win the Northern Trust at Liberty National Golf Club in New York City.

In 2020, Reed won his second World Gold Championship which is an incredible achievement at just the age of 30.

Following a major illness in 2021, Reed was not selected for the Ryder Cup and is currently still focusing on his health and his strength to get selected for the 12-man USA Team next season.

Patrick Reed: Net Worth

Patrick Reed comes with many controversies, and with those controversies comes his talent and success.

Although they may not look good in combination, Reed knows how to work them. Patrick Reed’s Net Worth is estimated at $15 million which comes through his tournament earnings and endorsement deals.

One of his biggest wins yet was in 2018 when he won the Masters Tournament and walked away with a whopping $1.98 million.
