Is Mazel A Good Golf Brand? – We’ve Reviewed Their Clubs

Mazel

The good thing about the glut of recent golf startups is that we now have a slew of low-cost golf gear options.

The bad thing is that it can be hard to tell which of these upstart brands are truly worthwhile.

Mazel Golf is one such company that is getting a lot of attention for their budget-friendly gear. But is this brand any good?

I took a look at and tested some of their best-sellers to find out.

Read on to learn everything you need to know about the Mazel brand.

A Brief History of Mazel Golf Clubs

While the company doesn’t offer up much information about their history, we are told that they have 19 years of experience manufacturing golf clubs.

We also know that their products are sold through various retailers in the United States and that the company itself is based in China.

Where Are Mazel Golf Clubs Made?

Mazel golf clubs are manufactured in Xiamen City in the Fujian province of China.

This is where the manufacturing plant is based and where some of their products are distributed from. It would appear Mazel makes all of their own equipment.

Mazel Single Length Irons Review

Mazel Single Length Irons

The Mazel Single Length Irons are some of the company’s best-sellers.

When I tested these irons I was surprised at how well-made they were. The #4 and #5 irons actually have hollow bodies which promote really nice distance.

I was able to get a max distance of 171.7 yards with the 5-iron.

The soles on these irons are pretty wide too which made for easy turf interaction. I found that I could achieve clean contact in the semi-rough without losing much club head speed.

The only issue I had came on the fairway. The larger soles and larger heads were causing me to dig a bit.

Granted, this is likely due to the fact that I normally game players irons so I’m not used to swinging irons of this size.

But it’s still something to keep in mind. Of course, this is a single-length set which may be off-putting for some golfers.

But many golfers swear by single-length sets and claim that they allow for a higher degree of consistency. I can see both sides.

While I don’t game single-length irons, I found it easy to fall into a groove with the Mazel Single Length Irons.

Overall they are very forgiving. The cavity back looks a bit wonky at first; but you get used to it quickly.

The complete set includes 4-SW irons and they are cast from 431 stainless steel. They seem very durable and are very easy to launch – the 9-iron is a whopping 44°.

Who Are They for?

The Mazel Single Length Irons irons are a great option for beginners, high handicappers or anyone who is a fan of single-length irons.

They are also a good alternative to more expensive Cobra single-length irons and are more congenial to inexperienced players.

Lastly, if you have trouble launching the ball, you should also give the Mazel Single Length Irons irons a look.

Mazel Titanium Golf Driver Review

Mazel Titanium Golf Driver

The Mazel Titanium Driver comes in 9.5° or 10.5° loft versions.

As the name states, the club head is made of 2041 titanium. Making contact with the sweet spot of this driver gives off a surprisingly crisp sound – although it is a bit loud.

There is a single weight in the back of the club head to increase MOI. I found that the 460cc head in tandem with this rear weight made the Mazel Titanium driver very forgiving overall.

Shots near the heel and the toe stayed reasonably on-line.

Mis-hits did lose a bit of ball speed; but the loss wasn’t outrageous. The Mazel Titanium driver also features a compression channel similar to the famed “Speed Pocket” of Taylormade clubs.

I can’t be certain but I believe this particular feature is what made my-low-face mis-hits play so long.

My average distance with the Mazel Titanium Driver was 257.2 yards (carry).

The only gripe I had with this driver is that the spin rates were a bit high which, when I wasn’t careful, negatively impacted my dispersion.

Who is it for?

The Mazel Titanium driver is a good option for anyone seeking an easy-to-hit driver that also yields good distance.

Pros & Cons

 Pros:

  • Very playable
  • Clean sound at impact
  • Workable
  • Affordable
  • Looks like a premium driver
  • Looks very forgiving at address

Cons:

  • Divergence isn’t very tight
  • Mis-hits lost some ball speed

Overall Score: 95/100

Mazel Chipper Review

Mazel Chipper

The Mazel Chipper is a 36° wedge that is designed to make tricky lies around the green easier.

But honestly, I found it to make any lie around the green ridiculously easy. Let’s start with the looks though.

The Mazel Chipper looks like an oversized mallet putter at address. It has three alignment lines that make framing the ball from any lie very easy.

Again, I noticed that the Mazel Chipper seemed like a very well-made club.

It sat heavy in the hands but was also very well-balanced. Swinging it was very comfortable and the turf interaction was excellent thanks to the chunky sole.

The best thing that this chipper did for me was eliminate my heavy shot. I have a fairly aggressive tempo and it’s hard to turn off.

So I usually have a problem with chunking with my wedges or ending up with heavy shots. The Mazel Chipper seemed to smooth all that out for me.

The only thing I didn’t like about this chipper was the loft. At 36 degrees, I couldn’t get all my shots to land softly on the green.

While longer chips weren’t a problem, close chips saw my ball roll off the green.

This wasn’t the case every time but when I wasn’t making the extra effort to get the ball in the air, it would surely bounce and roll too far.

Who is it for?

Any chipper is going to be a useful tool for beginners and high handicappers.

The Mazel Chipper in particular is possibly one of the best clubs that the company makes. It seems like it will last for a long time and it is an excellent tool for mastering your short game.

Plus, it costs less than $50 so it would be a great choice for budget-conscious golfers.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Excellent turf interaction
  • Great for beginners
  • Makes it easy to frame the ball
  • Seems very durable
  • Helps to correct errant swing tendencies

Cons:

  • Launch angles were a bit shallow

Overall Score: 98/100

Mazel Putter Review

Mazel Putter

The Mazel Putter features a really nice CNC milled face. This makes the feedback and response incredibly smooth.

I could feel where I was making contact and the rollout started almost immediately. I was really impressed with the feel of this putter overall.

The Mazel Putter is set to 3.5° and it has a 431 stainless steel body. It also comes in a wide variety of shapes.

It feels very well-balanced; but I will say that I would have liked it to be a bit heavier. I prefer a fairly beefy feel to my putter but I know that some golfers don’t.

It’s a matter of preference but it’s worth noting that the Mazel Putter is a bit on the light side.

The Mazel Putter also features low CG to make it more comfortable and balanced. This is one of the more expensive clubs that Mazel makes; but it makes sense.

CNC milling is a meticulous process that yields high-performance results in golf clubs. And for once, the stock grip on this putter didn’t feel cheap.

Instead, it felt comfortable and moderately soft – a good combination for acute feedback and playability.

Overall this is an excellent club that can hold up to putters made by more prominent manufacturers.

Who is it for?

The Mazel Putter is a great choice for high, mid or low handicappers.

It ticks almost all the boxes: it’s comfortable, it produces good rollout with almost no lag, it’s accurate and it provides clear feedback.

It’s also a good option for practice since the stock grip is comfortable enough for hours-long putting practice sessions.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • CNC milled face
  • It has a clean look
  • Great for putting practice
  • Many head shapes to choose from
  • Multiple color options
  • Comfortable stock grip

Cons:

  • It’s one of Mazel’s more expensive clubs
  • It could be a bit heavier

Overall Score: 98/100

Is Mazel A Good Brand? – Final Thoughts

Mazel1

There is a stigma around Chinese-produced golf clubs that I must admit, I am guilty of adopting.

However, after having tested a good cross-section of Mazel clubs, I can honestly say that I am re-thinking my stance.

The Mazel golf clubs I tested were surprisingly well-made.

While most of them are for beginners and high handicappers, they rival the game improvement clubs of major manufacturers like Callaway and Taylormade.

Mazel golf is definitely a brand to look out for if you want high-quality GI clubs at an affordable price.
