Callaway Epic Max vs Mavrik Max Driver Review & Comparison
Callaway likes to offer “max” versions of most of their drivers. In most cases, max means you get a little bit more of everything; more forgiveness, more launch height and more features.
This is certainly the case with the Mavrik Max and the Epic Max LS which are built for high to mid handicappers looking for more consistency and forgiveness.
If you are considering either of these drivers, you may be wondering what sets these Max cousins apart.
They feature a lot of the same types of technology so it can be a tough choice between the two. To help make your decision a bit easier, check out the following comparison review.
Mavrik Max Vs Epic Max Ls Overview
The crux of both the Epic Max LS and the Mavrik Max is to provide more ball speed and forgiveness. We can attest to both of these points of emphasis.
Both the Mavrik Max and the Epic Max LS produced true ball flight even on low-face shots.
This is due in part to the Flash Face design which, is essentially a slight curvature of the face. This also helps keep spin low off the tee.
Both of these drivers felt good to swing and on impact. They work very well for players with moderate swing speeds.

Callaway Epic Max LS Key Features
The Callaway Epic Max LS features a 12 gram adjustable rear weight that allows you to shape your shot depending on bias.
It also features a newer iteration of Callaway’s famous flash face stainless steel technology.
Callaway has also improved the shape and design of the jailbreak bars in the Epic Max LS. There is more material where the bars meet the crown and the sole which, increases the stability of the SS21 Flash Face.
Callaway Mavrik Max Key Features
The Callaway Mavrik Max does allow you to change out the standard rear weight for one heavier or lighter depending on your preferences.
The Mavrik Max also has the older version of the Jailbreak bars and an SS20 Flash Face.
It lacks the Cyclone Aero design that the standard Mavrik has but it’s still oversized (460cc) and very forgiving.
Similarities and Differences Between The Drivers
Both the Mavrik Max and the Epic Max LS feature A.I. design on the face but only the Epic Max LS has A.I. designed internal Jailbreak bars.
Both drivers also feature the triaxial carbon crown which, keeps head weight down so more weight can be placed for MOI.
One of the most important performance differences between these two driver is that the Epic Max LS offers a lower launch angle and lower ball spin off the tee than the Mavrik Max.
Epic Max LS Vs. The Big Bertha B21 Driver
Right off the bat, the Big Bertha has a higher draw bias than the Epic Max LS and it’s pretty noticeable. Other than that though, these two drivers are similar in many ways.
They both feature SS21 Flash Face technology although the compared to the Big Bertha, the Epic Max feels more wieldy in the hands.
Mavrik Max Vs. Callaway Rogue
Instead of Flash Face design, the Callaway Rogue uses Variable Face Thickness technology to enhance forgiveness and flex more at more points on the face.
The Callaway Rogue may be very forgiving, but the stability and distance of the Mavrik Max outweigh the forgiveness benefits of the Rogue.
