Gary Woodland: Early Life And Parents
On the 21st of May, 1984, in Topoica, Kansas City, Gary Woodland was born to Dan and Linda Woodland.
As Woodland was growing up, he showed a great interest in sports at school. He was an avid basketball player and even secured a basketball scholarship to Washburn University. However, that didn’t work out for him, and he later resumed his studies at the University of Kansas.
This is where he really began getting noticed for his golfing talents and received a golf scholarship too. Gary continued to participate in the golf player tour at the university, winning it four times before graduating in 2007!
Woodland completed his degree in sociology and took his career professionally the following year, in 2008.
2008 was when things turned for Woodland, and he really began taking golf seriously. He completed his qualifying school and got approved to play in the PGA Tour – a massive milestone for him!
Unfortunately, Woodland injured his shoulder in 2009, but that didn’t stop his career. Two years later, he won his very first PGA Tour title!
