Tom Kim: Early Life And Parents
Kim was born in June 2022 to a professional golfer, Kim Chang-ik, so it is no wonder he was born with a golf club in his hand!
Kim Chang-ik played on the Buy.com Tour before becoming a pro-golfing teacher. He traveled the world with his son teaching professional golfers – what better environment for Kim to soak up all that golfing knowledge?
Just after his birth, his family moved to China for a few years and later to Australia. He spent many of his early years between Thailand and the Philippines, where he played golf at every opportunity he could.
Kim was home-schooled in the Philippines. He did not graduate from high school and instead decided to pursue a full-time career in golf.
Kim is fluent in Tagalog, English, and Korean.
Before turning professional, Kim had a remarkable junior career. As a junior, he won the Philippine Amateur Open Championship and the W Express RVF Cup Amateur Championship in 2018.
