TaylorMade M2 Irons
Key Features:
TaylorMade originally brought out the M2 Irons in 2017, these irons were killing it on the market, the distance and control was better than any other brand. Until the faces started caving in.
They had a Face Slot technology built into the clubs which over time caused the clubface to collapse. In 2020 they decided to bring them back as a lower price point option, and they removed the Face Slots.
The Inverted Cone technology in the head provides a lot of ball speed and forgiveness, while the 360 undercut allows TaylorMade to position weight where the club needs it most.
The famous Speed Pocket technology at the bottom of the club helps to keep the ball speed up when you strike it towards the lower part of the club. We really like this Iron, and the value for money you get is unquestionable.

Titleist AP3 Irons
Key Features:
Titleist is known for creating Irons for the “better” player. With the exception of the AP1, the brand’s Irons are built more towards workability and distance control over forgiveness.
The AP3 iron is their first ever Player Distance Iron, it is their longest and fastest player’s Iron ever.
The AP3 Irons have a hollow clubhead, the first hollow construction Iron Titleist have ever made. Titleist calls it “Hollow-Blade Construction.” This manufacturing technique adds forgiveness by boosting MOI.
The Irons have 84.9 grams of high density tungsten low and in the toe and heel of the clubhead, this gives you more forgiveness and provides nice launch conditions with every club.
The last bit of tech is the “Unsupported L-Face Insert.” The L-Face Insert helps with shots struck low on the face, it keeps the ball speed up, while still maintaining spin.

Best Irons For High Handicappers – Sim2 Max Vs Titleist T400
TaylorMade SIM2 Max

The SIM2 Max Iron from TaylorMade is packed with technology. When it comes to Game Improvement Irons, you usually get an Iron that sounds a bit ‘clunky’.
What TaylorMade has done is added an Eco Dampening system into the Iron, this gives you a distance Iron, that feels like a forged club.
In all the TaylorMade Irons they have the Inverted Cone technology, this helps with keeping the face ultra thin where it needs to be, in the longer Irons the Inverted Cone moves towards the heel, this helps with turning the toe over.

Titleist have changed their ‘we only make players Irons’ image with the T-Series range. The T400 Irons are engineered to be a players distance Iron.
With the fast Super Thin L-Face, the lower edge of the face wraps around the sole of the club, by doing this the ball speed is maintained even with strikes low on the face.
There is loads of technology built into this club, up to 100 grams of tungsten is located in the heel and toe of the Irons, this provides forgiveness.
The Super Thin L-Face shaped sole produces awesome turf interaction, it has a hollow body construction, which allows them to move weight to the perimeters of the club head, this gives the Iron high MOI helping shots fly longer and straighter.

We are caught between the TaylorMade M2 and Titleist AP1 irons, both of these Irons are incredible in terms of performance. The M2 is slightly more expensive but is better in terms of performance.
Both of these Irons are aimed at higher handicap golfers. With the technology packed into these Irons you really do get a great product, if we had to choose one it would be the TaylorMade M2.

We would have to go with the Titleist AP3 Irons, these provide great forgiveness and distance, everything a high handicap player would be looking for.
Although newer models have surfaced, these irons are still incredibly competitive in terms overall performance.

Taylormade P790 – Best Irons Of All Time
The TaylorMade P790 Iron is the best Iron ever made from either of these brands. Even though it is targeted at the mid handicap golfer, you can find all levels of golfers playing this club, from beginners to Tour players. It is the complete all round golf club.
With its revolutionary SpeedFoam technology it sets itself above the rest. It is incredibly forgiving, very easy to control and easy to shape your shots, the distance you get from these clubs is phenomenal. If you find you are hitting them too far then moving to the small brother the P770 will be the way to go.
