The Taylormade P7MC debuted in 2020 with an entire family of new Taylormade irons.

Really, they sort of got overlooked by the P770 and the P790’s.

Still the Taylormade P7MC irons have a lot to offer who is looking for the perfect balance of workability and distance.

The P760 are the older of these 2 iron sets. They deputed back in 2018 as Taylormade’s new flagship player irons.

What’s Better About the Taylormade P7MC Irons?

Being the newer irons, the Taylormade P7MC do have some key improvements over the P760’s.

First and foremost are the machine faced grooves which, allow for more greenside accuracy.

While the P760’s have more of a traditional muscle-back design, the Taylormade P7MC irons are a sort of hybrid muscle/cavity back set.

The Taylormade P760’s may be the better choice for anyone who is a fan of Taylormade’s Speedfoam technology or hollow-body irons.

Who Are Each Set for?

The Taylormade P7MC are clearly for anyone who is more concerned about attacking pins and scoring.

While they offer good distance too, they truly shine on approaches.

If you want better ball speed from your long irons, the P760’s would be more your style.

Taylormade P7MC Vs. Taylormade P7MB

The P7MB irons have the same forged construction but with a cleaner, more traditional muscle-back shape.

Still, the P7MB’s lack the distance you get from the Taylormade P7MC irons and they have noticeably lower launch angles in the longer irons.

Composition Comparison

Both the Taylormade P7MC irons and the P760’s are forged from carbon steel.

The biggest difference in composition is that the longer irons of the P760’s have a hollow body design and the shorter irons are one piece.

The P760’s also sport Speedfoam injections and a more traditional muscle-back design while the Taylormade P7MC don’t.

There’s no question that Taylormade has upped it’s game in terms of feel from the P760’s to the P7MC’s. The Taylormade P7MC’s have a soft feel and the machined grooves allow for ridiculous spin control.

In our testing however, the P760’s still play longer than the Taylormade P7MC’s.

The hollow-body construction and Speedfoam injections in the long irons really ramp things up in terms of distance.

The fact that both of these sets retail for the same price should give you an idea of how much the P760’s still hold up. Both sets retail for around $1,400 even though the P760’s are 2 years older.

• There is still some semblance of a muscle-back for distance and forgiveness
• A modest leading edge helps with turf interaction
• These irons feel amazing from 3-9
• Stronger lofts

Cons:

• They lack the distance of the P760’s
• They don’t offer much in the way of forgiveness
• Not everyone is going to like the look of the hybrid muscle/cavity design
• Definitely not for beginners

While the P760’s still hold up for being a 2-year old set, we really liked the greenside performance of the Taylormade P7MC irons. The machined faces feel like a dream whether you are attacking from long range or up close.
