Going for a 4 wheel push cart might be one of the best decisions you can make in 2023. Read on to find out why we thought the ClicGear 8.0 is on of the best push carts on the market right now.

The ideal push cart strikes the perfect balance between stability and effortless maneuverability. But this is a marriage that 3-wheel push carts are rarely able to pull off. That’s why sometimes you have to look to 4-wheel models.

We had heard that Clicgear made a 4-wheel push cart that was getting very popular with casual golfers so we wanted to check it out for ourselves – and we did. Does the Clicgear Model 8 live up to the hype and the answer is yes!

First Impressions

When you take one look at the Clicgear Model 8, you think of a couple things – or at least we did. First that it must be heavy because it has 4 wheels.

Then you think how cool it actually looks. It comes out of the box folded all the way down and it looks like a little robot ready to pop up any moment.

But then when you go to unfold the Clicgear Model 8, you realize it’s not that heavy at all.

It’s 22 pounds which, we know, is heavier than a lot of 3-wheel carts. But when you compare that with some other 4-wheel carts 22 pounds is nothing.

Plus any additional weight goes into making the Clicgear Model 8 exceptionally stable.

We were really excited to get this cart on the course and put it through its paces when we first got it.

Key Features

There’s a lot to talk about here so let’s just dive right in.

4XFold System

First of all the Clicgear Model 8 folds up and down with the patented 4XFold system. It’s very simple and intuitive and the whole thing can be collapsed or locked into upright position with just a few moves.

Superior Breaking

The two front wheels feature brakes that can be activated by a lever that’s housed near the handle which is convenient.

The front wheels also have independent alignment adjustment screws to keep your Clicgear Model 8 riding true through the years.

Secure Your Bag Effectivley

The Clicgear Model 8 has upgraded those bungee cords that were used on the 3.0 version.

The bag securing system now features adjustable silicone straps that lock even large bags into place firmly.

The straps are located at the top near the handle and on the bottom saddle of the bag support.

Oversized Console

There is an oversized console that features a scorecard and pencil holder and Clicgear has made it so you can fully customize your Clicgear Model 8.

There are attachment slots for accessories like a seat, umbrella holder, an oversized cup holder, cooler bag and more (all sold separately).

Handy Storage Net

There is a single storage net located under the handle which securely holds smaller items like your phone, wallet, golf GPS device and rangefinder. And once again the Clicgear Model 8 weighs 22 pounds and folds down to 17” x 15” x 27”.

How Does it Perform?

When we took the Clicgear Model 8 out on the course, we were impressed by how fast we were able to unfold it and get it loaded with a bag. It easily fits in the trunk of a sedan and unfolds with just a few maneuvers.

The wheels glide smooth and the front ones don’t share an axle so they can be independently adjusted to your liking. The rear wheels are slightly larger than the front ones and this offset provides really good stability even on bumpy terrain.

The silicone straps are strong and can be adjusted to secure even overloaded bags. And while we were going up and down declines, the Clicgear Model 8 maintained balance very well. At no point did we feel like it was going to tip over on us.

The wheels are spaced a good distance apart so even with a heavy bag, the weight is distributed well and the cart isn’t heavy to push.

We also liked the fact that both of the front wheels have brakes which made it nearly impossible for this cart to move if we didn’t want it to.

Overall, we would recommend the Bag boy Nitron for players that have a hard time bending over and making a bunch of moves to unfold a golf push cart.

But if you’re looking for overall stability, the Clicgear 3.5 would be our recommendation.

Final Words

At the top of this review, we mentioned that the ideal push cart would strike a perfect balance between light weight and stability. So how does the Clicgear Model 8 do in this regard? Pretty well overall.

It’s certainly more stable than it is light but at just 22 pounds, we can forgive the added heft since every ounce of it contributes to the balance and stability of the cart.

It also holds onto oversized bags very securely and is surprisingly compact for a 4-wheel push cart.

If you can find somewhere that still has the Clicgear Model 8, we definitely recommend snagging one for yourself.
