Callaway and Cobra’s latest offerings from the tee are on the chopping board in todays review and we will take a look at both of them in greater detail.

The Callaway Rogue St Max is an upgrade on the 2018 Rogue driver which went down a treat back in the day. It promises to be the longest and most stable driver ever from Callaway.

The Cobra LTDx builds on more of the same that has seen such success in their last number of releases. The Cobra drivers continue to evolve with LTDx range and is right up there with the other brands in terms of performance.

Callaway Rogue ST Max Overview

The Callaway Rogue is built for speed primarily but it also benefits from a unibody construction with a jailbreak frame which provides the most stability ever seen in a Callaway driver.

The tungsten weight adds a bit of colour to the design and it also brings th weight low and towards the back an optimal luanch angle more consistently.

While Callaway aren’t going for full Carbonwood in the face like Taylormade just yet, their flash face technology is intelligently designed to extend the sweet spot to where golfers are actually hitting the ball on the face.

Callaway are using more Carbon in this driver with the triaxial crown and the jailbreak frame is more flexible at the top to allow more forgiveness in the head.

This driver feels amazing and the slight draw bias helps to keep it moving straight.

Cobra LTDx Driver  Overview

The Cobra drivers have been top notch over the last few years and the Cobra LTDx now leads the way as the highest performing driver from the brand and it also costs a bit less than its direct competitors

In the LTDx, Cobra say they have created the first ever zero COG driver thanks to the power core and weight low and in the front of the face to promote higher balls speeds across the now intelligent face.

The new Hot Face from Cobra is split into 15 zones that produce a long and straight flight when the ball is hit there, it is also CNC milled high strength titanium that sounds amazing.

The driver comes in 3 models with the LTDx serving most of the high to mid handicappers. The higher handicappers and slower swing speeds can try out the Max version which launches a little higher and has a more confidence inspiring profile.

The is also a low spin model for the mid to low handicappers that is more workable and requires a more consistent strike. A welcome new version from Cobra for many.

This is an excellent driver the pushes the boundaries for Cobra again this year.

Both drivers are excellent, both are excellently crafted a produce similar results. They are both super long, forgiving and great to play with.

Callaway Rogue ST Max Driver First Impressions

The large face looks amazing and large head profile of the Max are the first thing to stand out about the driver and Tungsten Speed Cartridge in the back.

Plenty on offer for all levels of golfer here from Callaway and it certainly delivers in all the major categories while offering very similar performance to the Epic range from 2021

Cobra LTDx Drivers First Impressions

The Cobra LTDx doesn’t exactly reinvent the wheel when it comes to it’s latest drivers but it certainly delivers on its promise of speed, distance and forgiveness again this year.

Cobra have certainly hit the mark with this driver in terms of delivering on the promises in all departments and added a Low Spin Option.

Is it much better than the Radspeed, not a huge amount, but if you are looking for one of the hottest new drivers of the year, that Bryson should be using, then this is the one for you.

Callaway Rogue ST Max Key Technology

Rogue ST Max is more of the same from Callaway and is an upgrade on the 2018 Rogue range as opposed to the Epic Speed and Max which were released in 2020.

Tungsten Speed Weighting: The Tungsten Speed cartridge is added to the back of each driver and brings the weight low and to the rear, resulting in a higher launch, Lower COG and a higher MOI. It is a different weight in each model but 26 grams in the standard ma version.

Unibody Construction: Having studied Formula 1 car construction – the Unibody encapsulates the entire driver with strong titanium steel and also includes the jailbreak frame which is more rigid at the bottom and flexible at the top. The unibody is a big reason for the increase in stability of the driver this year.

New High Strength Steel Face: Callaway a using a new higher strength steel in their falsh cup face which adds flex and ball speed on impact and it’s designed with A.I for optimal placement in each club.

A.I Optimized Face: The Face has been upgraded to flash face ss22 this year and it looks amazing on the large face. The face itself is optimized with A.I to see where golfers are actually hitting the ball on the face and making sure the sweet spot is covering these areas for better shots on potential mis hits.

Triaxial Carbon Crown And Sole: Triaxial carbon crown survives which reduces weight and adds club head speed with the aerodynamic design without going all carbonwood like Taylormade, yet anyway.

Adjustable Loft Sleeve: As always the Callawya MAX ST Driver comes with an adjustable sleeve with allows the golfer to decrease loft by 1 degree or increase it by 2 degrees. There is something for everyone with the Callaway ST Max Driver range.

As expected the Taylormade is packed to the brim with the latest in golfing technology and is one of the most distinctive drivers over recent times that comes in 3 different versions to suit all.

Pwr-Cor: While the power core is the star of the show with the LTDx irons, it also plays a big factor in the Drivers, bringing the COG forward and low to produce higher balls speeds. Cobra claim this is a zero COG driver in fact it has a whopping MOI with reduced spin.

30% More Carbon Fibre: The multi material design includes 30% carbon than the Radspeed but it also boasts a titanium frame that is more stable and lighter than The Raspeed.

New Hot Face: The New Hot Face design is variable thickness where the driver face is split into 15 zones with each zone being optimized to produce a good ball flight where you hit it on the face.

CNC Milled Face: The CNC milled face of the driver is also worth mentioning, it looks amazing and it produces some of the top ballspeeds in the game.

Rear Weighting: A lot of the weight saved in the structure has been added with tunsgten weighting low and in the rear to give that nice launch angle and better forgiveness.

My Fly Hosel: The My Flye Hosel allows you to adjust the loft 1.5 Degrees up or down from the loft you chose when buying the club.

Arccos Included: Every driver that Cobra sell has the option of coming with an Arcoss sensor which will automatically track your driver performance over time.

The Callaway Rogue St Family has 4 variants with the Standard Max set to do the job for the majority of high to mid handicappers, we also got a couple of low spin options and a Max D option for slicers.

This Standard Max is the one that will suit most players, it offers among the best distance in the game, it sounds amazing and it offers excellent forgiveness. It has a bit of draw bias built in but not as much as the Max D Version.

Is the draw biased of the ROgue St family for any slicers. It is also more confidence inspiring at address, forgiving, higher and straighter launching.

This model is great for beginners and slower swing speeds and it also has more of a draw bias for slicers.

Who Should Buy The Cobra LTDx Drivers

The Cobra LTDx will cater to all levels of golfer but is primarily targetted at the high to mid handicap range where the bulk of golfers reside.

If you want to get your hands on a club that you will be seeing on tv for a bit less than the competitors, Cobra and their latest LTDx range may be the way to go.

This driver sounds great and it delivers on peformance offering the same speeds as the impressive Radspeed with lower spin rates.

The club looks nice on address and the orange will stand out in the bag but wouldn’t upgrading from the Radspeed or Speedzone to this unless are due a new driver and fancy the look of the new Cobra.
