Callaway Mavrik vs. Callaway Rogue Irons Review & Specs 2023

Callaway does a great job when it comes to game improvement irons. They offer easy to hit and forgiving options that appeal to a wide range of players.

Two of the latest releases are the Callaway Rogue and the Callaway Mavrik. The Callaway Mavrik is one season newer than the Rogue, and it leaves many golfers wondering if the Mavrik is worth the higher price.

We have the inside scoop on these irons and which ones are going to be the best for your golf game.

Brief Intro To The Clubs’ Benefits & Histories

Rogue irons

Callaway Rogue 2

When the Rogue Irons were introduced, the name of the game was distance.

Callaway wanted to offer its customers the most distance they could while still offering a decent feel and forgiveness.

The Callaway Rogue irons were well received, with only a few complaints about the sound of the club.

 Mavrik Irons

The Callaway Marik are the first irons ever developed by Callaway that feature the use of artificial intelligence.

The artificial intelligence helped to perfectly position the center of gravity in the club head and give these golf clubs lots of launch and forgiveness.

What Have The Mavriks Added To The Party?

Stronger Lofts

The Mavrik irons have quite a bit more ball speed and distance than the Rogue irons.

If you take a look at the loft chart, you will see that the Mavrik irons have extremely strong lofts.

In fact, the lofts are almost one full club stronger for each iron.

Custom Center Of Gravity on Each Club

The other difference that you will notice with the Mavrik is the custom placed center of gravity.

This allows each club to perform exactly as it should for each individual loft.

For the first time ever in golf, an 8 iron is made differently than a 7 iron. This is a big step and changes things quite a bit.

Are They Really That Much Better?

The Callaway Mavrik Irons have quite a bit more distance than the Rogue irons. The thing is, the lofts are just adjusted quite a bit.

If you look at a Mavrik 8 iron compared to a Rogue 7 iron, the distances will be quite similar.

The major difference that we have found with the Mavrik compared to the Rogue is the feel.

The Mavrik feel much more like a forged iron than the Rogue irons do.

Although the Mavrik is still a cavity back, the Urethane Microspheres do a very good job in this club.

Who Are Each Set For?

The Mavrik and the Rouge are built for golfers that are needing lots of distance and forgiveness in their swings. Since the Rogue are a bit older, they will appeal to players looking for a better deal.

If you are a mid handicapper that is transitioning into a lower handicap, you may want to skip the Mavrik irons and go for something like the Mavrik pro.

Although the Mavrik clubs have a nice feel, it is still quite hard to work the ball. They are so forgiving they will correct your efforts to hit a draw or a fade.

Feel players will enjoy the Mavrik irons more than the Rogue.

How Do They Compare On Composition

You will notice that the Callaway Mavrik does not come in a 3 iron. This is because the loft is so low on the four iron that it is essentially a three iron.

Since the lofts are so adjusted, there is an additional wedge in the Mavrik set as well. The gap between the pitching wedge and the sand wedge is so large that there are two clubs that fit in this gap.

How Do They Compare On Performance & Feel

The performance of these clubs is very similar.

They make the game of golf easier and more enjoyable. However, the feel of the Mavrik is considerably better and they have more distance because of the slightly advanced club tech.

In addition to the feel, the sound has also been improved for the Mavrik irons.

How Do They Compare On Price

Since the Mavrik is a newer release than the Rogue, they are priced quite a bit higher although have come down in price in 2021.

However, the Mavrik are still being produced, so if you need a custom shaft or grip, the Mavrik is the way to go.
