Acer Velocity Graphite Shaft Review – Specs, Flex, Weight
There’s no doubt about it- golf can be an expensive sport.
But you don’t always have to spend a boat-load of money to get the kind of gear that will help you play your best. Take the Acer Velocity graphite shaft for example.
Are you going to see Tour pros play this shaft? No. Are you likely to see scratch golfers game this shaft? I wouldn’t bet on it. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its niche. I got my hands on the Acer Velocity graphite shaft and tested it to see who, if anyone, could benefit from the performance it offers.
Acer Velocity Graphite Shaft Overview
One cool thing about the Acer Velocity graphite shaft is that it comes in a wide variety of colors including black/red, blue/orange, pink, light blue and more. So you can personalize your shaft how you want. The branding is pretty straightforward: the “Velocity” logo in front of some flame-like graphics. Overall it’s not a bad-looking shaft.
The Acer Velocity graphite shafts are pretty lightweight. The heaviest one checks in at 69 grams. Not only are they light on paper, but they feel very light in the hands as well. The kick occurs near the tip of the shaft. And these are pretty high-torque shafts as one would expect. So there is a lot of activity in them.
The plus side is that you don’t need a strong swing to activate them. With just a moderately strong transition, you can feel the club head move through the ball, giving your swing some extra power. The Acer Velocity graphite shaft has a sort of whippy feel; but it could have just been me. After all, I have a semi-aggressive transition so I may not be the target demographic for this shaft.
But with just a slight adjustment in my swing, I was able to gain more control over this shaft which is a testament to how well-made this shaft is.
Why is the Acer Velocity So Popular?
One big reason for the popularity of this shaft is the price.
You can get the Acer Velocity graphite shaft for just $20 or even lower on some sites. But besides the price point, the Acer Velocity is a good shaft for slow swing speed players.
How Does the Acer Velocity Perform?
The Acer Velocity graphite shaft is a high-launching shaft – there are no two ways about it. Even when I smoothed out my tempo a bit, I was still getting towering shots. The shaft feels moderately stable through transition and impact. My only gripe was that the sidespin was high. But to be honest, I was expecting this based on the weight and torque of this shaft.
The torque will be between 4° and 6° depending on the flex you choose so there is a lot of action going on during your swing. But for a slow swinger, this will translate to better distance. Despite the high sidespin numbers, I was seeing above average club head speed numbers during my testing.
The dispersion isn’t too tight but I had no problem keeping the ball in play. There is just enough balance and control in this shaft to be a viable option for beginners, senior players or anyone with a slow swing speed and deliberate transition. On top of that, it should increase drive distance for such players.

What Flexes Are Available? What Swing Speeds Do They Suit?
Ladies flex is good for players in the 50-60 MPH swing speed range.
Senior is likely a fit for 61-65 MPH swingers. Regular may work for players in the 66-75 MPH swing speed range and stiff flex could be congenial for 76-80 MPH swingers.
What Weights Are Available? What Swing Speeds Do They Suit?
The 66g version is good for 50-65 MPH swingers. The 68g Acer Velocity shaft should work for players in the 66-75 MPH swing speed range and the 69g version is for 75+ MPH swingers.
Why is it So Good?
The Acer Velocity graphite shaft shines in the arena of distance. If you are having trouble breaking 200 yards on your drives, the Acer Velocity may be the shaft you need.
Acer Velocity Graphite Shaft First Impressions
The first thing I thought when I took a few practice swings was, “this is a really light shaft.”
And that’s saying a lot because I have tested shafts that were even lighter than this one. But the Acer Velocity just feels lighter and more nimble than those other shafts.

Acer Velocity Driver Review
I would recommend a smaller, lighter driver head to pair with the Acer Velocity. It will give you more control than an oversized, weighted 460cc driver; but you won’t lose any distance.

The Acer Velocity worked very well with my test fairway. I was able to squeeze 4.7 extra yards out of it compared to my gamer shaft.
