Founders Club RTP7 Men’s Golf Club Set Review

Getting a good entry level set of golf clubs is a lot harder than it should be. First you have manufacturers that try to upsell you on features that are really of no use to you as a beginner.

A lot of times, newbies either end up overpaying or getting a “bargain” set of golf clubs that doesn’t even last a season.

But it’s hard to go wrong with Founder’s Club. They have a reputation for quality and value for players of all levels and that is definitely the case with the new RTP7 club set.

So today we are going to be taking a good look at a Founder’s Club set that is marketed for beginners to see if it truly is worth your time and money. Let’s take a look.

A Quick Look At The Founders Club RTP7

Right off the bat the Founders Club RTP7 comes with a really nice premium bag which is nice because as a beginner you are probably going to be lugging your own clubs around a lot.

And as far as performance goes, we were able to tell pretty much immediately that the Founders Club RTP7 set was designed for distance. If you have been struggling from the tee or with your woods and longer irons, this is a set that can help in at least that department.

The Founders Club RTP7 set is also very lightweight. Beginners will surely find these clubs more wieldy than other entry level golf clubs.

What You Get In The Set

Now let’s talk about what you actually get in the set. As we touched on earlier, the Founders Club RTP7 comes with a premium cart bag.

The bag has 9 zippered compartments including one insulated beverage pouch for keeping drinks and snacks cold.

The bag also features a 14-way top divider with dedicated slots for all your clubs. The putter slot will also be able to hold putters with large grips up to 1 1/3” in diameter. But enough about the bag; let’s take a look at the clubs themselves.

Driver

The Founders Club RTP7 set comes with a 460cc driver and is set to 10.5 degrees of loft. It’s very effective for getting maximum length off the tee.

3 Wood

The 3 wood is set to 15 degrees of loft and features a lowered center of gravity for better balance on your swing.

Hybrids

You also get 2 hybrids in the Founders Club RTP7 set. The first is a 3 hybrid set to 21 degrees and the other is a 4 hybrid set to 24 degrees.

Irons

With the Founders Club RTP7, you get Irons 5 through 9. All of them feature a deep undercut cavity and are weighted perfectly from the heel to the toe.

Wedge

This set comes with a pitching wedge with a high degree of loft for getting yourself out of hairy situations.

Putter

The set is completed with a blade style putter with inserts in the face that make even longer putts feel smooth.

Club Composition

All of the clubs in this set come with graphite shafts and are fitted to men’s regular flex. The only exception is the putter which features a stainless steel shaft.

The driver also has a unique composition feature: the head incorporates 535 grade titanium.

And the heads of all the other clubs including irons, hybrids, woods and the putter are composed of stainless steel.

Club Options

If you aren’t a fan of the graphite shafts, don’t worry. The Founders Club RTP7 set comes available in men’s standard steel flex and senior flex.

If you typically play taller clubs, you can get the Founders Club RTP7 set in oversize plus which adds an inch to all the club lengths.

And while we are on the topic of club length, we found that the standard length of these Founders Club RTP7 clubs are suitable for men between about 5’5” and 5’11”.

The oversize plus versions would be good for players between 6’0” and about 6’5”.

Final Assessment

The Founders Club RTP7 performed very well overall. We think the irons can be a little more forgiving on a set that is geared toward novices but that can be forgiven in light of the precision they offer. And precision will come in handy as your game grows, trust us.

We also like the fact that it comes with 3 and 4 hybrids as opposed to 4 and 5’s that are very typical in these kinds of sets. This will help flatten the learning curve a bit when you are first starting out. Overall this is a well-made, quality set of clubs for beginners and we would definitely recommend giving them a try.
