The woods in this set come with graphite shafts while the irons and putter have steel shafts. The driver has a titanium head and a very large sweet spot. The set includes a 5 hybrid and irons 6-9. There is also a pitching wedge included.

One of the things we liked the most about this set was the pitching wedge. It has aggressive grooves that really bite onto fast greens. It produces great spin while almost every other club in the set produces great distance.

We were also impressed with the inclusion of an Odyssey White Hot putter in this set. The roll is phenomenal with the White Hot face insert. The irons feature deep cavity backs which increases forgiveness while the perimeter weighting promotes straight shots

#2 – RBZ Speedlite Complete 11 Piece Set – Best Premium Budget Buster

Ok, now this one isn’t exactly under $1000. But it’s just over $1000 and you can get it for around $1100. That’s still a steal considering that the RBZ Speedlite Complete 11 Piece Set comes equipped with modern features and provides all-around great performance.

You can get these clubs in steel or graphite shafts with regular, senior or stiff flexes. The set includes a driver, 3 wood, hybrid, irons 6-SW and a putter. The irons are the star of the show though. Much of the weight is concentrated near the sole so the CG is nice and low.

The RBZ irons launch high and feature perimeter weighting so they fly straight. Even our high handicap testers were noticing more accurate shots with the irons in this set. The 3 wood also has the Speed Pocket which increases flexibility near the sole.

Pros:

• Forgiving woods
• Great launch from the irons
• Good spin from the wedges

We have been singing the praises of the WILSON Men’s Profile Platinum golf club set for years because quite simply, it’s one of the best budget sets on the market. The WILSON Men’s Profile Platinum are available in both graphite and steel shafts.

The woods feature a striking black PVD finish which gives them a premium look that defies their $880 price tag. The pitching wedge in this set is exceptionally impressive. It has a muscle back design which allows for incredible feel and surprising workability for a set that is supposedly for high handicappers.

The WILSON Men’s Profile Platinum driver is also very forgiving and plays long. While the offset is moderate and won’t do much to help your slice, if you are somewhat accurate you should be able to add at least a couple of yards to your drive with it.

Pros:

• Poor turf interaction from the irons
• The hybrid isn’t great in the rough

We have tested the Cobra Mens Fly XL Golf Package Set before but we picked them up again for this list because of the value they offer to slow swing speed players. The Cobra Men’s Fly XL clubs are extremely light so they are ideal for seniors or anyone who needs help with swing speed.

The driver has an oversized shape but is made of titanium which is an inherently light alloy. The fairway wood features a shallow profile which also helps with weight; but more importantly, affords the player more lateral forgiveness.

All of the clubs in this set have fairly pronounced offset so they will help straighten out your shot a bit. The woods in this set can be outfitted with graphite shafts while the irons, wedges and putter come with steel shafts.

Pros:

• Very lightweight
• Perimeter weighted irons
• Irons look great at address

Cons:

• Not good for fast swing speed players
• Driver scuffs easily

This is a great set for any lady golfer who struggles with longer woods and irons. You don’t often see a 6 hybrid nowadays but the Callaway Golf 2021 REVA Complete Golf Set includes one. It also includes a 5 wood, driver, irons 7-9, sand wedge and a putter.

The putter is also very impressive. It’s a Callaway Stroke Lab mallet style putter and it generates almost instantaneous forward roll. The lofts of the irons are very weak which is perfect for anyone who prefers a flighted loft or struggles to get the ball in the air.

The oversized irons also look great at point of address for beginners. All of the clubs have a nice lightweight design. The Callaway Golf 2021 REVA Complete Golf Set come with graphite shafts in ladies flex.

Pros:

• Very forgiving
• Good for anyone who struggles with longer clubs
• Great launch

Cons:

• Bag isn’t very durable
• Not very workable

We really liked the irons in this set. They have a chunky look at address and will build confidence for any beginner. The driver and fairway woods are oversized and very forgiving. We would have preferred a mallet style putter for beginners; but at least the blade putter has a nice feel.

It’s very responsive too. The Cobra Golf 2019 Men’s XL Speed Complete Golf Set would be a great choice for beginner players.

The hybrid iron design makes them extremely forgiving. They are large, and have very expansive sweet spots. The hollow design makes the face flex to a very high degree. They also have hollow bafflers that help smooth out turf interaction without adding significant weight.

The Cobra Golf 2021 Men’s T-Rail 2.0 Combo Iron Set is super lightweight and would be great for anyone looking to increase their swing speed.

#9 – Callaway Golf Rogue ST Max Iron Set – Best Iron Set

This is another set of irons from Callaway. The Rogue ST Max irons are some of the newest in 2022. They feature an oversized head design up to 62 grams of tungsten in the long irons. This helps pull the CG down and makes for a very comfortable swing.

The Callaway Golf Rogue ST Max Iron Set is a very forgiving set of clubs but you still get exceptional feel thanks to the 450 grade steel face. The Rogue ST Max irons also feature the urethane microspheres that Callawy likes to use so often.

The urethane helps to dampen harsh vibration which may be of particular interest to you if you commonly mis-hit or thin the ball. Despite their size, the Rogue ST Max irons look clean at address – even with a fairly deep undercut.

The TaylorMade Golf Stealth Iron Set is the latest and greatest from Taylormade – and you can get the entire set for $1000. The Stealth irons feature a shaved toe which reduces mass in the toe and places it in the sole right underneath the sweet spot.

This results in a low CG and more power when you pure the ball. The Stealth irons have moderate offset and they aren’t the most forgiving irons on the market; but the cap back design and toe wrap help to improve accuracy where most players mis-hit.

They have a very beautiful look both in the bag and at address. They come stock with carbon steel  shafts which provides the precision of a steel shaft with the light weight of a graphite shaft.

Pros:

• Great for mid handicappers
• Regular or stiff flex options
• Very good launch

Cons:

• Not the best for beginners
• Not a complete golf club set
