The latest 2022 offerings from Taylormade and Cobra are both impressive in their own ways and sit at the very top of the drivers on the market right now.
The Stealth is a bit hate-it-or love with its new red Carbonwood face which is 11% bigger than the Sim’s face and delivers on impressive ball speeds.
The Cobra LTDx builds on the success of the Radspeed and improves on the design and performance in many areas.
Taylormade Stealth Overview
Taylormade promise a 44% weight reduction by replacing the ‘plateauing’ Tatanium face with Carbon Wood and promise to never build a Titanium faced driver again.
The CarbonWood has a distinct look that will turn some off and others on, it is covered in Nanotexture to optimize the launch angle and spin rates off the tee.
The Taylormade Stealth delivers too, a couple of extra mph’s of ball speed, a bit more distance and an 11% larger face to hit as well when compared to the Sim.
The Stealth comes in 3 models – The Standard which will suit most players, – Plus which has lower spin and a sliding 10g weight for more consistent strikers and the Hd which is a draw bias driver that doesn’t sacrifice forgiveness.
If you are an early adaptor, this one is for you, the Stealth is a High MOI, Lower Spin, Big Distance, Aerodynamic Driver that is certainly worth checking out if you are due an upgrade and want the best.
Cobra LTDx Driver Overview
While the Taylormade have taken a revolutionary approach in 2022, Cobra have been a bit more conservative, opting for incremental improvements to the wildly successful Radspeed and the result is a success.
Cobra are using 30% more carbon fibre in their multi material design but the face is still made with Titanium.
The Speed Cor produces the worlds first zero COG driver by sitting low and in the front of the club to promote ball speed. The weight saved by Carbon fibre is added low in the rear for more club head speed and distance.
The Hot face has 15 striking zones and each is optimized to produce an optimal strike even for off center hits.
The driver is held together by a titanium frame which is more stable and the driver is longer and lower spinning than the Radspeed.
It comes in 3 flavors, the Regular, the LS model for better strikers looking for more workablity and also the max version which produces a higher flight and more spin but adds forgiveness and inspires more confidence at address.
The Cobra is abig success, while we wouldn’t recommend upgrading from the Radspeed to the LTDx, it is worth a look if you are in the market and it costs a bit less than the competition as well.

The Stealth is a bit hate it or love it.
If you like the advance in technology, the looks and the impressive performance, then the Taylormade is worth the look.
The Cobra ia another slick driver that produces similar performance but won’t turn as many heads, it costs a bit less and Bryson uses it so we would recommend the LTDx to the majority of golfers.
Cobra LTDx Drivers First Impressions
The Cobra LTDx doesn’t exactly reinvent the wheel when it comes to it’s latest drivers but it certainly delivers on its promise of speed, distance and forgiveness again this year.
Cobra have certainly hit the mark with this driver in terms of delivering on the promises in all departments and added a Low Spin Option.
Is it much better than the Radspeed, not a huge amount, but if you are looking for one of the hottest new drivers of the year, that Bryson should be using, then this is the one for you.
Taylormade Stealth Drivers First Impressions
The red carbonwood of the Stealth driver is going to stand out a mile on the course this year and the driver certainly delivers on 66x Carbon twist face which is 44% lighter than it’s predecessor, titanium.
This driver will be perfect for High To Handicappers, representing the majority and there is aslso a Plus and Hd Model tailored towards specific golfers.
Cobra LTDx Key Technology
As expected the Taylormade is packed to the brim with the latest in golfing technology and is one of the most distinctive drivers over recent times that comes in 3 different versions to suit all.
Pwr-Cor: While the power core is the star of the show with the LTDx irons, it also plays a big factor in the Drivers, bringing the COG forward and low to produce higher balls speeds. Cobra claim this is a zero COG driver in fact it has a whopping MOI with reduced spin.
30% More Carbon Fibre: The multi material design includes 30% carbon than the Radspeed but it also boasts a titanium frame that is more stable and lighter than The Raspeed.
New Hot Face: The New Hot Face design is variable thickness where the driver face is split into 15 zones with each zone being optimized to produce a good ball flight where you hit it on the face.
CNC Milled Face: The CNC milled face of the driver is also worth mentioning, it looks amazing and it produces some of the top ballspeeds in the game.
Rear Weighting: A lot of the weight saved in the structure has been added with tunsgten weighting low and in the rear to give that nice launch angle and better forgiveness.
My Fly Hosel: The My Flye Hosel allows you to adjust the loft 1.5 Degrees up or down from the loft you chose when buying the club.
Arccos Included: Every driver that Cobra sell has the option of coming with an Arcoss sensor which will automatically track your driver performance over time.

Taylormade have made break throughs with the material however and vow never return to Titanium in a dirver again after achieving a 44% weight saving, let’s see how that plays out.
NanoTexture Finish: The whole driver is covered in a NanoTexture that optimizes launch and spin for each strike.
60X Carbon Twist Face: Taylormade have made a stronger version of Carbonwood than previously existed and have compacted 60 thin sheets into the face for more energy tansfer on impact and faster ballspeeds.
Geometric Design: The driver is designed with an inertia generating design that adds club head speed at the crucial moment on the strike. The Driver also went through substantial accoustic testing.
Rear Back Weighting: The big weight saving from the face is transfer low in the rear of the driver for a low COG and high MOI from the club.
Thru Slot Speed Pocket: A Mainstay in the Taylormade drivers nowadays is the Thru Slot Speed Pocket which generates more ball speed and a higher launch for shots struck low on the face of the club.

There is 3 models, including a Low Spin model which wasn’t seen in the Radspeed range and a Max version which gives a higher ball flight, a bigger head and more spin.

The standard model that will suit the vast majority of players. This one really delivers.
It sounds great, it is just as long as the Radspeed and it has a lower spin rate. This belongs right up there in terms of the new driver offerings available in 2022.
Cobra LTDx Max
This driver has a bigger profile that will allow golfers to feel more confident as the approach the ball and it delivers on its promises for distance, forgiveness and a higher launch.
This model is great for beginners and slower swing speeds and it also has more of a draw bias for slicers.
Cobra LTDx LS
A lower spin version built for the better players and more consistent strikers who want to get more workability off the tee. The Cobra LTDx Ls is just as good as its competitors in the 2022 marke for a keener price.

The regular stealth is built for the majority of golfers which reside in the high to mid handicap range. The crabonwood certainly looks distinctive and it is a bit hit and miss with golfers in 2022.
This is going to be the longest of the drivers and the fact that it doesn’t have a sliding weight ensure that the MOI is 15% higher than the Plus. The face is also 11% bigger than the Sim 2
Taylormade Stealth Plus
The plus model has a lower spin rate and the sliding 10g weight allows golfers to set the driver up as they wish. This one is for slightly more consistent strikers looking to work the ball a bit more.
Taylormade Stealth HD
The Draw bias model of the Stealth, careful provision has been put into the driver to ensure that forgivness and the size of the sweet spot is not downgraded by including the draw bias in the head.

Who Should Buy The Cobra LTDx Drivers
The Cobra LTDx will cater to all levels of golfer but is primarily targetted at the high to mid handicap range where the bulk of golfers reside.
If you want to get your hands on a club that you will be seeing on tv for a bit less than the competitors, Cobra and their latest LTDx range may be the way to go.
This driver sounds great and it delivers on peformance offering the same speeds as the impressive Radspeed with lower spin rates.
The club looks nice on address and the orange will stand out in the bag but wouldn’t upgrading from the Radspeed or Speedzone to this unless are due a new driver and fancy the look of the new Cobra.

Who Should Buy The Taylormade Stealth Drivers
The Taylormade Stealth Driver is an early adaptors dream, the big switch from Titanium to Carbon wood and you can be one of the first commercial users of this beast.
That is not to say the Stealth is going to dissappoint on performance, Taylormade state confidently that they will never be going back to titanium so we made indeed see the other brands following suit.
The Standard Stealth model is certainly going to stand out on the course with the red face but is beautiful and smooth, hitting all the right boxes in terms of distance, sound and consistency off the tee.
If you haven’t upgraded your driver in a while, it could be time to jump on the Carbon Wood band wagon.
