Tangkula Complete 10-Piece Golf Club Set Review Vs. Alternatives

Right off the bat, the Tangkula complete golf club set has everything you need to go out and play a full round. This is a very interesting entry-level golf club set that may be the perfect fit for certain players.

Make no mistake about it, the Tangkula complete golf club set is made for beginners and high handicappers. You aren’t going to find extremely precise irons or compact wedges in this set; but if you are a beginner you don’t necessarily want to see those kinds of clubs anyway.

Instead, the clubs in this Tangkula set look very reassuring to newbie players right out of the box. But what is it exactly that makes this set worthwhile for beginners? Can it help your game? Let’s take a look at the details.

What to Look for In Beginner’s Clubs

Before you start researching and shopping for beginners clubs, you have to know what makes a good beginner’s set.

Accuracy and Forgiveness

For beginners, a more forgiving club head and shaft will help improve accuracy.

For most beginner players, being able to get the ball going on a straight path will also be very important and helpful so perimeter weighting should be a priority.

Low Center of Gravity in the Woods

Having low CG in your woods is important for distance and forgiveness. It will help you get the ball airborne which should result in better carry distances and overall distance.

Shaft Material

For beginners, it is typically advisable to start off with graphite shafts in your woods and if possible, in your irons as well. Graphite shafts flex more and are more suitable for players with slower swing speeds. While you lose a bit of accuracy with graphite shafts, you gain more in distance.

Shaft Flex

Flex is also important to consider. For beginners, we recommend amateur or regular flex. These shafts bend a bit more at impact and will help achieve greater ball speed for players with slower swing speeds.

First Impressions

The first thing you notice when you put all the clubs in the bag and pick it up is that the entire set is very lightweight.

Tangkula did a good job of making this a very lightweight set and designing a very comfortable bag to carry. The woods in this set have graphite shafts which helps keep the overall weight down.

When you pick up each club, you again notice that they are very light. This is a great design for beginners as lightweight clubs help improve swing speed.

Who is the Set For?

The Tangkula complete golf club set will be best for players who just picked up the game.

It’s inexpensive, has all the clubs you need to start learning the game and it’s a forgiving set overall. This is a perfect set to take with you to your beginner’s golfing classes and to get some practice in at the range.

The Tangkula Driver

The driver is a large 460CC volume driver that will inspire confidence in beginner players.

You can feel the low CG right away and the perimeter weighting (heel and toe) will help improve distance and accuracy on off-center shots. It plays long and has a deep face profile so it’s hard to miss the sweet spot.

The Tangkula #3 Wood

The #3 fairway wood in this set is 15 degrees and also has a very low center of gravity.

Our high handicap testers had no problem getting the ball high up in the air from the deck and tee with this fairway wood. Great launch and carry overall – the only caveat is that it’s hard to keep the ball out of the air on windy days.

The Tangkula #4 Hybrid

The #4 hybrid is 22 degrees so it makes for the perfect replacement for 4 or even 5-irons.

You get the same kind of distance you would get with a 4-iron but in a much more forgiving package. It’s not great in the rough but it makes up for it with high launch and impressive distance.

The Tangkula Irons

You get irons 6-9 in the Tangkula complete golf club set which is a good composition for beginner players.

That’s because the longer irons (3, 4 and 5) are much harder to hit with. Starting with the mid irons (6 and 7) will help make the learning curve a bit flatter for new players.

Pitching Wedge

The pitching wedge has deep grooves and allows for a fair amount of greenside spin.

We would like to have seen a sand wedge included but the pitching wedge in this set will suffice for most beginners. It pops the ball up high and is perfect for those bump and run shots near the green.

The Putter

The last club is a very well-balanced mallet-type putter.

Mallet-type putters tend to be the most forgiving because the size and shape allow for more weight to be placed in the back of the head. This putter has good MOI and is consistent even on off-center strikes.

Conclusion

The Tangkula complete golf club set will help you enjoy the game more as a beginner.

All of the clubs are forgiving which will limit some of the common frustrations beginners have. Of course, it is lacking in areas like shot shapeability, workability and feel; but you have to make some concessions.

Overall, this is a great set to start learning with and will make it easier to develop a passion for the game.
