Tacklife Golf Laser Range Finder 900 Yard Review

The right laser range finder can be a huge boon on the course. Apart from allowing you to gauge distances with more confidence, we have heard from our staff, our friends and other players we meet all the time that they used a range finder to help them improve their overall club selection.

But the problem is that the market is flooded with all kinds of laser range finders. And if you are new to this type of gear, all the options can be confusing. But as a general rule of thumb, you will want to go with a laser range finder that is accurate – everything else, while important, comes secondary.

So in today’s review, we wanted to shed some light on a range finder that has been getting a lot of attention for being exceptionally capable of gauging far-off distances.

We wanted to test it for usefulness to golfers, ease of use and of course, accuracy. Let’s see if this Tacklife laser range finder makes the grade.

Key Features of the Tacklife Laser Range Finder 900 Yard

As you may have already surmised from the name of this product, one of its main selling points is the fact that it can measure the distance of objects that are up to 900 yards away. In our experience, that makes it one of the most powerful range finders on the market.

Keep in mind that the 900 yard distance ceiling is typically used in the hunting mode of this product. That’s right; the Tacklife Laser Range Finder 900 Yard is a multi-use range finder that can also be used for hunting.

But on the golf course, the Tacklife Laser Range Finder 900 Yard has helpful features like pin-locking. Simply press and hold the power button on top of the device, pan the crosshairs over the flagpole and it will measure the exact distance.

When you look through the eyepiece of the Tacklife Laser Range Finder 900 Yard, you get a crisp, clear sight of your target and the terrain. This is thanks to the 7x magnification lens that is multi-coated to help resist glare and surface damage.

You can also adjust the eyepiece just by turning the diopter lens dial. The image should come into clear focus as you peer through the sight. And if you do intend to use the Tacklife Laser Range Finder 900 Yard for hunting, there is a screw hole at the bottom so you can set it steady on a tripod.

The device is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery. It comes with a USB charging cable and can be charged off of any USB device. In all, it takes about 3-4 hours to fully charge the Tacklife Laser Range Finder 900 Yard.

Slope – Is it Legal for Tournament Play?

The Tacklife Laser Range Finder 900 Yard also comes with vertical height calculator function, horizontal distance calculator function and slope calculator function. The slope calculator function is used to help you judge the “plays like” distance of shots where the terrain inclines or declines.

This feature is illegal to use in official tournament play but the good news is that you can turn this feature off visibly and make the Tacklife Laser Range Finder 900 Yard tournament legal.

Speed of Use and Accuracy

We tested the Tacklife Laser Range Finder 900 Yard on the range and during a round of golf. We were pretty impressed with the speed of this device. It pretty much displayed distance on the 24mm lens instantly. It doesn’t take long to lock onto a target if the target is stationary.

And if you are on the golf course, the target should always be stationary. But what about the most important factor of all, accuracy? We used course distance markers to double-check the readings that the Tacklife Laser Range Finder 900 Yard was giving us and found that it was accurate to within 5 yards.

That’s pretty good considering that some of the lies that we were distancing were upwards of 350 yards away.

Weight and Feel

The Tacklife Laser Range Finder 900 Yard fits comfortably in the hand at just about 3 inches tall, 4.5 inches wide and an inch and a half thick. The whole thing weighs about 2 pounds when the lanyard is strapped to it so overall it is pretty light and comfortable.

We also appreciate that all the control buttons are top-mounted which makes one-hand operation very easy.

Battery Life

When the device is fully charged, it can last for about ten hours which is way more than enough for a full round of golf or a practice session at the range.
