Rife RX2 Golf Club Set Review

Golf is a great and fulfilling game but what wards people away from it is the typically high price for a complete set of golf clubs. Some may find the solution in cobbling together a set made up of individual, non-matching clubs.

While this is certainly a viable option, it isn’t always the best because it often creates consistency and gapping issues. Beginners everywhere should know that there are affordable options if you are looking to get kitted out on a budget.

This is where the Rife RX2 golf club set comes into play. While not a brand name many golfers are aware of, we were pleasantly surprised when we took this set out to the range and our local course for some testing.

Will the Rife RX2 complete golf club set be what you need to improve your young game? Find out in the following review!

First Impressions

Quite honestly, we weren’t expecting much. The Rife RX2 clubs are rather unheralded and they don’t look like anything to write home about at first glance.

While they certainly aren’t ugly, they just don’t grab your attention like modern golf club sets do (Taylormade Stealths we’re looking in your direction). However, we were drawn in more by the putter which sports the design of a premium-grade putter.

Who is the Rife RX2 Golf Club Set Best for?

The Rife RX2 golf club set would be best for beginners looking to purchase their first complete set.

Before we get into the details we should mention that almost all of the clubs in this set play long, which is what they were designed for. Distance is the first hurdle you must overcome in your golf journey so these clubs would be great for beginners.

What Comes in the Set?

Driver

The driver has a deep face profile so you get good forgiveness from toe to crown.

It also felt like a dream to swing. The low CG combined with the aerodynamic lines will allow most beginners to increase their swing speed for added distance from the tee.

3 Wood

The Rife RX2 set also comes with a single fairway wood which mimics the design of the driver very closely.

As such, it is a viable option from the tee or from the deck. The 3-wood picks up very little drag which will help increase your striking accuracy as well as your club head speed.

Hybrids

Included in the Rife RX2 golf club set are 2 hybrids: a #4 and #5.

The hybrids sport a classic design: shallow face profile with added distance from heel to toe compared to long irons. And you get two of them so you should have a much easier go of it on long par 4’s.

Irons

The irons in this set are constructed of 431 grade stainless steel.

You get irons 6-SW so from long irons to scoring irons, you are covered. We liked that these have oversized head profiles and traditional cavity backs. This makes them forgiving and long with very stable MOI.

Putter

Rounding out the set is a semi-mallet style putter that nearly outshines every other club in the set.

First of all, it has a beautiful black finish. Secondly, the “Roll-Groove” technology is really effective at eliminating hops and skids and promoting a smooth roll immediately after impact. It’s also very well balanced and comfortable thanks to heel/toe weighting.

Set Composition

The irons in this set are made from 341-grade stainless steel and most of the clubs are outfitted with steel shafts.

The woods and hybrid clubs in the Rife RX2 set have nice, comfortable graphite shafts while the irons, wedges and putters all have steel shafts.

Set Options

Keep in mind that this is an entry-level set of clubs that was meant to be affordable.

As such, you’re not going to get a whole lot of stock options. As far as we know, there is only one configuration: graphite shafts for the woods and steel for everything else.

Final Assessment

The Rife RX2 golf club set is definitely a great choice for beginners and high handicappers.

The oversized irons will be especially helpful for beginners as the irons are typically the hardest clubs to master. While you don’t get much in the way of short game workability or spin control, we’d be willing to bet that most beginners won’t really notice.

This is a great set to get under 100 and the best part is you won’t have to break the bank. The putter is also amazingly accurate for a set in this category.
