Ping i59 Vs Ping i210 Irons Review & Specs 2023

The Ping i series of irons has been lauded for their superior short-game performance and surprising forgiveness.

So much so that it could be tough to decide between the different models in this line.

These are some of the most unique Ping irons we have ever had the pleasure of testing so we wanted to share our findings and experience with you, the reader.

Ping i59 Vs Ping i210 Overview

There are certainly key similarities between these irons, being part of the same line and all. However, there are also important differences you should know about.

First of all, we would say that the Ping i59 irons are the more advanced irons between these two. Not that the Ping i210 are inferior; they just bring different elements to the table.

What you should know right off the bat is that these are indeed player’s performance irons. Either one will help skilled players score and help them play their best around the green.

Ping i59 Key Features

The best feature of the i59 irons is the construction materials and how they all come together.

We would have to say that after testing these irons, the thing we liked the best about them was the feel. The i59’s combine a forged carbon steel body with a 17-4 stainless steel face.

Usually, we don’t much care for semi-hollow bodies but the i59’s still deliver a crisp, solid feel on contact thanks to the premium materials and forging process.

The i59’s also feature machined grooves which allow for acute control around the green.

Ping i210 Key Features

The sweet spots on these irons feels very expansive for a player’s performance iron set.

Overall, we would say that these were the more forgiving irons compared to the i59’s. They have elastomer inserts that soften up the feel more than the i59’s but the tight grooves still offer a high degree of short-game control.

One thing the Ping i210 irons had over the i59’s is performance from the rough. The pronounced leading edge of these irons mows through tough turf with ease.

Ping i59 Vs Ping i500

We thought we liked the feel of the i59’s – until we got our hands on the Ping i500’s.

The Ping i500’s faces are made from incredibly thin maraging steel. This type of steel not only has an amazing feel; but it flexes to a very high degree as well.

We were getting better ball speed with the i500’s than the i59’s.

Ping i210 vs Ping G425

The G425 irons have a cavity back design as opposed to the muscle back design of the Ping i210 irons.

Perimeter weighting is also emphasized in the Ping g425 irons, making them slightly more forgiving than the Ping i210’s.

We would say the G425’s are a great option for mid to low handicappers who still want a good degree of forgiveness in their irons.

Who is Each Set for?

The ping i59 and the Ping i210 iron sets would both be best for mid to low handicappers.

They both emphasize mid and short iron performance. However, if you are in need of slightly more forgiveness, we would recommend the Ping i210 irons.

Composition Comparison

The i59’s were our hands-down favorites when it came to composition.

With milled face grooves, a forged carbon steel body and a laser-cut face, the Ping i59’s were built better – and you can really feel it when you play.

The Ping i210 irons also have a cavity back design and elastomer insert to smooth out unwanted vibration.

The expansive sweet spot and leading edge were also helpful. The feel of the i59’s is unmatched though.

Performance Comparison

Both of these iron sets will give you a great deal of spin control on the shorter irons.

The i59’s in particular fly high and stop dead – even on fast greens.

We did notice that the 3 and 4 irons of the Ping i210 set played longer than those of the i59 set by an average of 6 yards.

The i59’s had the better spin control in the short irons though.

Price Comparison

Both of these iron sets will set you back a pretty penny.

In general, you will find the Ping i210 irons on sale for about $1,200 while the Ping i59’s go for about $1,500.

Neither of these sets would be a bad choice for mid to low handicappers.

That being said, we found ourselves drawn to the amazing spin and launch control of the Ping i59’s.

They will serve you better if you are easily in the low handicap range while the Ping i210’s offer a bit more distance and forgiveness.
