Ping G425 irons continue the tradition of the G400 family, where the manufacturer makes slight improvements to new models every year or two.

They have gone on the advice that a player only upgrades their irons once every eight years. So, by the time you upgrade, the new set will be vastly improved clubs over its predecessors.

Ping claims that the G710 are the longest and most forgiving irons in their stable and are the successor to the G700 range.

The standard lofts on Ping G710 irons are 0.5 degrees stronger than the G425’s. The G710 4-iron is set at 20 degrees, while the same club in the G425 set is 20.5 degrees.

This trend continues through to the utility wedges in both sets. The G710 has 49 degrees of loft. While the G425 contains 49.5 degrees of loft.

What Options Do You Get With The Sets – Shafts & Flex

G425

Although Ping allows you to acquire a variety of shafts. The G425 is available in two standard options. The Ping AWT 2.0 shaft and the Alta CB Slate graphite shaft.

The AWT 2.0 shafts are sold in regular, stiff, and extra stiff flex, catering more to the golfer with a faster swing tempo. The Alta CB Slate shafts are offered in soft-regular, regular and stiff flex, which caters for golfers with moderately slow to fast swing tempos.

G710

The sole stock shaft option for the G710 irons is the Alta Distanza Black 40.

This shaft only comes in one flex option, soft regular. This flex is designed to perform best for those of you with slower swing tempos.
