History Of MacGregor Golf

In 1874, a man named John McGregor joined up with a pair of footwear lasts manufacturers who operated under the name, Dayton Last Works. The “Dayton” part of the name came from the city in which the small company operated, Dayton, Ohio.

With the addition of McGregor and another man named Edward Camby, the company was renamed Crawford MacGregor & Canby. It was around this time that the company started to pivot towards making wooden golf shafts.

The shafts were a success which cemented the company as one of the first major American manufacturers of golfing equipment. Over the early and mid parts of the 20^th century, the company would change hands a number of times – being sold and re-sold by various interests including Suntory, Brunswick Corporation and Amer Sports.

Today, MacGregor Golf is still in operation and they are still making a wide variety of golf equipment for a wide variety of players.
