Dynamic Gold 95 Shaft Review – Specs, Flex, Weight

Dynamic Gold 95 Shaft

Dynamic Gold from True Temper is arguably the most renowned line of steel iron shafts in the industry.

Dynamic Gold is known for combining exceptional smoothness with accuracy fit for the best players in the world.

It seems like everyone has a very high opinion of these shafts.

So if you have ever heard anyone say that they don’t like Dynamic Gold shafts, it’s probably because they were toostout or heavy for their swing style.

But even those naysayers may change their tune once they try the Dynamic Gold 95 shafts.

In the following review, we will be telling you about our test session with the Dynamic Gold 95 shaft as well as who should be gaming them.

Dynamic Gold 95 Shaft Overview

As you may have already been able to guess, the Dynamic Gold 95 is a 95 gram steel shaft.

Actually, only the parallel tip version is exactly 95 grams. If you prefer a taper tip you can choose from 96g or 97g. In any case, these are lightweight steel shafts.

A lot of Dynamic Gold shafts are on the heavier side to accommodate the strong loading of powerful swingers.

So when it came time to design the Dynamic Gold 95 shafts, it seems as though True Temper had the rest of us mortal golfers in mind.

We have tested multiple Dynamic Gold shafts in the past (some of us even have them in our gamers) and right off the bat, we could tell that the Dynamic Gold 95 felt different.

It wasn’t a bad kind of difference. True Temper describes the Dynamic Gold 95 as “flexible” and that’s an apt description.

The Dynamic Gold 95 has the most “give” of any Dynamic Gold shaft we have ever tested. The kick point comes through clear as a bell right above the tip section.

It loads and releases very easily but the stability at impact and on the downswing is still there. We would say that the feel of the Dynamic Gold 95 is a lot friendlier and inviting than the heavier DG shafts.

Why is the Dynamic Gold 95 So Popular?

Dynamic Gold 95 Shaft1

The Dynamic Gold line of shafts is going to attract a lot of attention no matter what the weight class is.

With the Dynamic Gold 95, fitters now have more DG options for slower swinging players.

If you are like most players who have pined over DG shafts but never found one that suits your swing, you may really like the Dynamic Gold 95 shafts.

How Does the Dynamic Gold 95 Perform?

The Dynamic Gold 95 was designed to launch high and yield a lot of spin. This is exactly what we found in our test session.

In fact, it was hard not to launch the ball high with this shaft. This is a benefit and a detriment depending on the kind of player you are.

If you have a more deliberate tempo, you will likely gain carry distance from the high launch.

But if you have a more aggressive tempo, you may actually lose out on carry distance because of the high launch. And it’s hard for even highly skilled players to flight the ball down with this shaft.

We were also getting more sidespin than we are used to seeing from a Dynamic Gold shaft. However, shot dispersion was within tolerable range.

The accuracy was reminiscent of heavier DG shafts. It was very easy to achieve a baby draw that curved nicely back on-line.

It was a pleasure to see the kind of ball flight we were getting with this shaft – even on slight mis-hits. It was right within our preferred window.

And while carry distance took a hit for some of our testers, everyone agreed that the rollout was very nice. Plus, you can get enough spin and height to land dead on fast greens on long approaches.

If you’re swinging your irons in the 85-95 MPH range, try stiff flex.

What Weights Are Available? What Swing Speeds Do They Suit?

95g would be good for slow swing speeds.

The 96 and 97 gram versions may work for players in the 80-90 MPH swing speed range.

Why is it So Good?

The Dynamic Gold 95 is a good shaft because it makes it easier to get high launch.

You can also be more aggressive with your long irons thanks to the added stopping power.

Dynamic Gold 95 First Impressions

The first thing we noticed about this shaft was how easy it was to get high apex height with it.

The Dynamic Gold 95 wants to launch high no matter what.

Key Features & Performance

The Dynamic Gold 95 certainly has a more pronounced bend profile that allows for easy loading and releasing.

For the most part, this means faster club head speeds even for slower swing speed players.

Who Should Buy it?

The Dynamic Gold 95 shafts would be good for players in the 80-90 swing MPH swing speed range.

They definitely favor a smoother swing tempo and lose some stability with faster swing velocities. They launch high without ballooning and are great at holding onto fast greens.
