Cart-Tek GRI -1500Li Electric Golf Push Cart With Remote Control Review

Just as we are getting a bit older, elertic golf trolley’s are getting better and better. It must be a sign!

This is why we have been especially interested in electric golf caddies as of late and testing some of the best carts for 2022.

Lugging bags around ourselves is certainly becoming less and less attractive every Sunday.

We had been disappointed in the past with electric push carts that were too hard to control, fell over, had short battery life or were simply designed poorly.

But we think we have finally stumbled onto a gem. So how will the Cart-Tek GRI 1500Li work for you? Find out in our detailed review.

Key Features

Before we get to the nitty gritty about the Cart-Tek GRI 1500Li, we know not everyone has time to read an entire review. So in this section we will give you a truncated look at the Cart-Tek GRI 1500Li by highlighting it’s four key features:

Remote Control

The Cart-Tek GRI 1500Li can be controlled via remote.

You can choose the direction the cart goes in via the simple buttons (think an old school gaming system controller).

It has a full range of motion – left, right, forward and back. You can also choose from 4 speed settings depending on your pace.

Lithium Ion Battery

As the name implies, the Cart-Tek GRI 1500Li comes with a rechargeable lithium ion battery.

The battery lasts for 2 full rounds of golf if you aren’t using the maximum speed setting the entire time.

Aluminum Framing

Another key selling point of the Cart-Tek GRI 1500Li is that it is durable.

And we’re inclined to agree because it’s made of aviation grade aluminum.

All the joints and casings that are usually plastic in other carts are also made of aluminum on the Cart-Tek GRI 1500Li.

Folds Away Neatly

One of the biggest selling points of the cart is that it folds away neatly when not in use which is rare for an electric cart and means it can easily fit in the trunk of your car.

First Impressions

Our first impression when we got the Cart-Tek GRI 1500Li was that it was going to be hard to put together. But in fact, it wasn’t. The factory does all the hard work for you and when it arrives in it’s box, it’s already mostly assembled.

All you really have to do is put the wheels on and that’s very easy. We were also struck by the 4 wheel design. This isn’t your traditional 4-wheel configuration. There is one axle that runs from the front and the back and another axle bisecting the vertical one.

But this helps the cart maintain stability on steep terrain because there is one wheel in the back that prevents it from toppling over. Picture a traditional 3-wheel push cart with an additional wheel in the back – that’s what you get with the Cart-Tek GRI -1500Li.

Other Features

We’ve gone over the most important features a bit but there are many others you should know about. Let’s start with the operating modes. Of course, you can control the Cart-Tek GRI -1500Li via remote. But it also has a manual mode wherein it operates like a regular push cart.

And as we mentioned before, there are 4 speed settings to match your pace on the course. But the Cart-Tek GRI -1500Li also allows you to adjust the turning force so your bag won’t go flying when you need to change the direction of the cart as you are traversing the course.

Speaking of bags, the Cart-Tek GRI -1500Li features a dual bungee cord securing system for cart bags. There is a bottom saddle with one set of locking cords and another set near the handle. It held onto our bags pretty well – even when they were overloaded.

The Cart-Tek GRI -1500Li is simple to transport too thanks to the wheels that can be detached to fit into smaller spaces. The height of the handle can also be adjusted between 37 and 46 inches.

In terms of storage and accessories, the Cart-Tek GRI -1500Li features a cup holder, scorecard holder, storage for golf balls, an umbrella holder and optional storage bag.

How Does It Perform?

The Cart-Tek GRI -1500Li gives you a lot of power with twin 24v high-torque motors. We ran this cart at its max speed for an entire round and it never slowed down. The rear wheel also makes the Cart-Tek GRI -1500Li very steady when going up inclines.

The turning takes a little getting used to but works well once you get the hang of it. And if you are using it as a manual push cart, it can be a little heavy. But the whole point is to use it at least most of the time as an electric cart.

How Much Does It Cost?

At most retailers you can expect to pay about $1500 for the Cart-Tek GRI -1500Li but we have heard rumors that it is sometimes on sale for just around $1000.

Final Assessment

Overall we really liked the Cart-Tek GRI -1500Li. It would be nice if the wheel stance were a bit wider for added stability. That would make this electric caddie pretty much perfect.

But the long battery life, durable frame and easy operation more than make up for that shortcoming.

If you are looking for a dependable electric golf caddie we definitely recommend taking a good look at the Cart-Tek GRI -1500Li.
