On the surface, there isn’t a lot that differentiates the Callaway Mavrik driver from the Callaway Rogue driver. When you actually play these two drivers side by side though, you can feel the differences. Since we know not everyone can test drivers side by side, we’ve taken the liberty to do just that.

Today we are going to be discussing the specs and differences between the Callaway Mavrik and Rogue drivers besides the lower price of the Rogue Driver.

 

Mavrik V Rogue Driver Overview 

Rogue

 

The Callaway Rogue set was introduced in 2018.

The driver of the set was predicated on increasing both ball and club head speed with an innovative leading edge design and the now commonplace Jailbreak internal bar system.

Mavrik

 

The Callaway Mavrik carried on in the same vein.

The Mavrik driver was designed for explosive speed off the face and the improved aerodynamic design of the head helps players get their club head speed up.

Mavrik Key Features

The Callaway Mavrik integrates Callaway’s unique A.I. face design which tests almost every possible swing outcome to create the most optimal shape for the largest possible swath of players.

The Mavrik also sports the never before seen Cyclone Aero head design which, is said to be more aerodynamic.

 

Rogue Key Features

While the Rogue driver is a bit dated at 3 years old, it still features some of the most popular and important Callaway features.

The hourglass shaped jailbreak bars create more stiffness around the crown and sole to provide more stability for the thin, fast face.

 

The Mavrik Family

Also included in the Mavrik line of drivers are the Mavrik Sub Zero and the Mavrik Max.

Both the Max and the Sub Zero have interchangeable weights while the Max has the strongest lie angle at 59 degrees.

The Sub Zero sports a smaller 450cc head and a neutral flight bias.

 

The Rogue Vs. The Big Bertha

 

The Big Bertha and the Rogue drivers share a lot of the same features like the Flash Face architecture, Jailbreak ribbing and A.I. design.

The Big Bertha has a lower CG though, in order to retard spin off the tee and help the ball fly straighter. The Big Bertha also has a higher launch angle than the Rogue.

 

The Mavrik Vs. The Epic Speed

The Mavrik and the Epic Speed drivers are very similar in many ways. Both sport a titanium face that keeps weight down while flexing more.

The main difference is that the Epic Speed has a higher launch angle than the Mavrik.

Who Is Each Driver For?

 

The Mavrik and Rogue drivers offer very similar design features.

Both would be congenial to anyone looking to get their swing speed up thanks to the triaxial carbon crowns and aerodynamic head designs.

 

Performance Comparison

The Mavrik is the latest of the two drivers and you can tell that Callaway really refined their head design with this driver.

Overall, we were getting faster club head speeds with the Mavrik; but that didn’t always translate to more distance.

In terms of distance, these two drivers were almost identical. We did like the feel of the Rogue driver a bit more than the Mavrik though.

It may have had something to do with the hourglass shape of the jailbreak bars which provided more stiffness in the crown and sole and more flex in the face.

 

Price Comparison

Since the Callaway Rogue driver was basically replaced by the Mavrik and other drivers, you will be able to find it for significantly less than the Mavrik.

The Rogue runs about $200 these days while the Mavrik tops out around $400 at most retailers.

• It has a pretty strong lie angle at 58 degrees
• It also features Callaway’s optifit hosel
• It has a slight draw flight bias

If you’ve read this far, then you can tell that there isn’t a lot that separates these two drivers. The minute details do make a difference though.

For example, if you prioritize overall feel, you would do better with the Callaway Rogue driver and it doesn’t hurt that it is considerably cheaper as well.

If you have been really trying to up your swing speed however, the Callaway Mavrik has more to offer you.
