What Does The Apex 21 Add To The Party?

Artificial Intelligence (A.I) is what Apex 21’s bring to the party. These are the first in the apex family to have a flash cup face designed by AI. This means Callaway was able to enhance the ball speeds and spin capabilities of the irons.

Apex 19 vs 19 Pro Smoke

The Apex 19 irons are the standard edition in this range and were created for mid to low handicap players. The Pro Smoke irons are better suited to low handicappers and professionals looking for superior control over their ball flight.

Furthermore, the Pro Smoke has a more compact head, a narrow sole, and minimal offset. And only includes tungsten weighting in the long and mid irons.

Apex 21 Vs Apex 21 Pro Vs DCB

As was the case with the Apex 19’s the Apex 21’s are best suited to mid handicappers, while the Pros pair better with the best players in our game. Finally, the DCB irons are a better fit for higher handicappers and beginners.

The standard Apex 21’s have an average level of offset. While the Pro models are fitted with minimal offset. The DCB irons have moderate offset, to promote a straighter ball flight.

Apex 21’s have a moderately sized head, while the DCB’s have a larger head with an enhanced sweet spot for increased forgiveness.

As you would expect, the Pro edition has a compact head to deliver the look, feel, and performance of a players irons.

Loft Comparison Table For Each Iron In The Set

As you will notice in the tables below. The lofts on both sets are the same and are slightly strengthened compared to the average lofts of corresponding irons.

According to Golf Monthly’s Elliot Heath, the average loft of a 4-iron is 24 degrees. Therefore both the Apex 19’s and 21’s are strengthened in comparison.

Comparison On Distance

In tests conducted by Mark Crossfield, he found that he got more distance with a standard Apex 21 7-iron than when he tested the Apex 19’s.

The AI flash cup face combined with the increased tungsten weighting could account for a more powerful launch, faster ball speed, and longer carry than we are seeing in the Apex 21.

How Do They Compare On Price?

Surprisingly these irons are evenly matched on price, even though the Apex 21’s are the newer and more advanced of the two.
