Bullet Golf .444 Complete Set Review Vs Alternatives

Want to get better at golf? Then you need to seriously consider the kind of clubs you’re using. Too often new players just go to a yard sale and cobble together a set that doesn’t work for them.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, some players pay top dollar for new clubs with features that are of no use to them. Today we will be reviewing a beginner’s set that we think will suit a wide variety of beginner players…

What to Look for in Beginner’s Clubs

Before you can walk, you have to learn to crawl. Before you buy a set of beginner’s clubs, you have to know what to look for.

Accuracy & Forgiveness

Accuracy and forgiveness are paramount for new players. Generally, the features that will provide accuracy and forgiveness are pronounced offset, large footprints and beefy soles.

Low CG Drivers & Woods

When a club has most of the weight located in the rear of the head, MOI is increased. MOI refers to contortion of a material when it makes impact with an object. Higher MOI means straighter shots and greater accuracy.

Shaft Material

For beginners, it would be wise to choose graphite shafts – at least with your woods and driver.

Shaft Flex

While a fitting will tell you what flex is best for your swing speed and type, regular flex is generally ideal for new players.

First Impressions

The first thing we noticed about these clubs is that they felt a bit heavy.

This was a bit off-putting at first but when we got these clubs out on the range/course, we could feel that at least, the weight was put in the right places. These clubs have very low CG’s and flighted lofts.

Our testers noted an almost immediate increase in distance thanks to very impressive carry distances.

Who is the Set for?

The Bullet .444 Complete Golf club set would be best for players who are seeking an increase in distance.

While you don’t get much workability from any of the clubs in the set, distance is almost automatic. This also means that these clubs play straight. The perimeter weighting helps keep launch straight throughout the set.

The Bullet .444 Driver

The set is kicked off with an oversized, graphite-shafted driver.

Again, it’s a bit heavy but this driver was adding an average of 5 yards to the drives of our testers. The weight didn’t seem to affect accuracy either. While it won’t cure a slice, it certainly won’t make it worse.

The Bullet .444 Wood

We were very impressed with the launch of this 17 degree fairway wood.

This is a #5 wood and it compliments the driver very well by creating very tight gapping. Shot dispersion was nice and narrow as well – adding to the overall accuracy of this entire set.

The Bullet .444 Hybrid

The hybrid in this set launches very high as well.

This was actually a very helpful club to use from the rough. It scoops the ball up very effectively even if you find yourself in the rough or in a tight lie.

The Bullet .444 Irons

You get irons 6-9 in the Bullet Golf .444 Complete set.

The most noticeable thing about these irons is that they have very large sweet spots. They pretty much have everything that a beginner needs from his irons too: deep undercuts for better launch, low CG and perimeter weighting for accuracy.

The Bullet .444 Wedges

The set includes a pitching wedge that doesn’t spin much but at least it launches high.

Once again, you have a relatively low CG for a pitching wedge which helps with launch and forgiveness.

The Bullet .444 Putter

The set includes a blade-style putter which isn’t the best for beginners.

We would like to have seen a mallet putter in this set but at least the face insert in this blade-type putter imparts a smooth feel and consistent roll.

Bullet .444 Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Premium irons
  • Good scoring wedge
  • Straight launch
  • Good flex
  • Affordable
  • Lightweight bag

Cons:

  • A bit heavy
  • Fairway wood dents easily

In addition to the Bullet Golf .444 complete golf club set, you should also check out these alternatives:

Wilson Platinum

Wilson Platinum Set

The Wilson Platinum set includes a driver 5-wood, #5 hybrid, irons 6-SW and a putter. We would say that these clubs are better for mid handicappers as they don’t have the large footprint and moderate offset that the Bullet .444 set has.

Callaway Edge

We really liked the irons in this set. They would be great for beginners because they have very broad sweet spots – much like the Bullet .444 set. The Edge set includes a driver, 3-wood, 5-hybrid, cavity back irons 6-9, pitching wedge, sand wedge and Odyssey putter.

The putter in this set is also buttery smooth and will last season after season. In fact, the putter is a big reason that this set sells for almost $1000.

Callaway Strata

The Strata set consists of a driver, fairway wood, hybrid, irons 6-PW and a mallet putter. The irons in this set have surprising stopping power too. They are strong-lofted with the 9 iron clocking in at 40 degrees.

Conclusion

We like the Bullet .444 golf club set because it’s forgiving enough for beginner players but substantial enough for players with faster swing speed.

That’s why we think this set would be a good fit for a wide variety of players. If your handicap is around 18, you will probably want more workability than the Bullet .444 set can offer but higher handicappers will love the near-immediate distance increase and straight flight that these clubs provide.
