Best Cast Irons For Golf 2023 – Get The Best Deal Here

Cast iron golf clubs are made from a molding process. Iron is melted and then poured into a mold, from there it is cooled to get its final shape.

Unlike forging where the iron is heated and then pressed into shape, the casting process allows golf club manufacturers to add additional elements to the head. These elements are usually aimed around making the club more forgiving.

What Are The Benefits Of Cast Irons

There are a few benefits in producing cast iron golf clubs. Firstly the process is a lot cheaper, faster and less time consuming. This in turn makes the irons a lot cheaper than forged irons.

Secondly , the golf club manufacturers are able to add extra elements to the irons like types of rubber and sometimes gels. This adds extra forgiveness to the irons making them perfect for high handicap players or beginners.

With all these extra elements that are added to the irons, they also help you hit the ball further, the faces of the irons can be made very thin, allowing the face to have a ‘trampoline effect’ giving the ball extra ball speed off the face.

Unfortunately with this process comes inconsistencies. With all these extra forgiveness and distance elements, distance control sometimes becomes difficult causing what they call ‘hot shots’, this is where the ball flies 10-20 yards further than expected.

Now this might not sound bad, but if you want to hit to a flag that is 150 yards away, and you fly the ball 170 yards into the bushes then it becomes a problem. But all in all for this being the only problem, and with it not happening very often it is something that you can easily look past.

Who They Will Suit

These irons suit mid to high handicap players and beginners. The head sizes are usually larger than forged irons, which gives the golfer confidence over the ball, plus they are very forgiving as well as have some extra distance compared to forged irons.
