1. The Callaway 300 Pro Golf Laser

Callaway 300 Pro 2

To kick off our list, we have a device made from a trusted company, Callaway. Right off the bat we love the fact that this Callaway rangefinder accounts for slope so you know how much you will have to carry.

The Callaway 300 Pro also has a “birdie” feature which lets out a little chirp once it has locked onto the flag and assessed its distance. At just under $200, it is said to be accurate for up to 1,000 yards and features a 6x magnification lens.

Pros:

  • Scan mode allows for multiple target distancing
  • Easy to hold
  • Automatically accounts for slope and gives true distances

Cons:

  • Distance read-outs can be inconsistent
  • Short battery life (about 4 hours)

2. The Tectectec VPRO500

TecTecTec VPRO500

We really liked how sleek and clear this rangefinder was. It has all the essentials: pin sensor that automatically locks on to the nearest target, a scan mode for hazards and a diopter adjustable lens.

We found it to be accurate for up to about 500 yards and it gave distance read-outs pretty quickly. Our favorite thing about the Tectectec VPRO500 was the way it looks, though. It’s a cool-looking rangefinder for about $150.

Pros:

  • Very sharp view finding
  • Very nicely designed
  • Good for getting repeatable club distances on irons

Cons:

  • Pin locking sometimes picks up trees
  • You need to make sure the crosshair is directly on your target

This rangefinder is good for up to 400 yards of distance measurement. You get a vibrating pulse feature that lets you know when it has locked onto a desired target too.

This is a tournament legal rangefinder with a 6x magnification lens that will run you about $180

Pros:

  • Very clear view finding
  • You get free lifetime battery replacement
  • Very accurate for short distances

4. The Nikon Coolshot 20 GII

Nikon Coolshot 20 Rangefinder

The 8-second continuous scan mode of the Nikon Coolshot 20 was pretty handy and quick. It gave us quick distances to multiple targets which helped us maintain a brisk pace on the links.

It runs on 2 CR2 batteries and provides a very bright and clear view of anything you are pointing it at.

Pros:

  • Very compact and easy to carry
  • Great for approach shots
  • High quality lens

Cons:

  • No slope measurement
  • Consumes a lot of batteries (2 CR2’s)

5. The Bozily Golf rangefinder

Bozily Golf Rangefinder

This is a very handy rangefinder both on and off the course. Mainly because it measures moving target speeds and vertical distances (good for hunting, hiking, etc.). It contains a class-1 laser and we found it to be accurate up to about 500 yards.

It comes with slope calculation which you can turn off if you intend to use it for tournament play. It also comes with a USB rechargeable battery.

Pros:

  • Supports continuous scanning
  • Vibrates when it locks onto the flag
  • Powers itself off after 10 seconds to save battery

Cons:

  • The different modes are a little hard to switch between
  • The lens can be a little cluttered and hard to see through

Tasco Z400 Rangefinder

This is one of the more compact devices on our list at dimensions of about 4x3x1.25 inches. It features slope calculation that you can turn on and off and runs for about $200.

This is a very basic and easy to use rangefinder but it can be finicky with greater distances and is sensitive to unsteady hands.

Pros:

  • Very compact
  • Gives angle information
  • Good battery life (up to 3 full rounds)

Cons:

  • Sensitive to light
  • Buttons are a bit hard to push when looking through it

7. The Saybien Golf Rangefinder

Saybian Golf Rangefinder

For around $180, you can get this rangefinder with slope calculation, a 6x magnification adjustable 2mm lens and a rechargeable battery. It gives distances in yards and meters and comes with a magnetic carrying case.

This is one of the more durable rangefinders on our list. It is encased in tough rubber so it’s good for anyone prone to dropping their devices.

Pros:

  • Locks onto flags pretty well
  • Good for measurements 600 yards out
  • Good at distinguishing between targets and background objects

Cons:

  • You have to have a very steady hand to measure distances beyond 300 yards
  • A bit slow with distance read-outs

8. The Precision Pro Nexus

Precision Pro Nexus

This rangefinder stands out for its ability to lock onto your intended target while scanning the background. It was very quick, improved our playing pace and is a great deal for just about $140.

It gives honest distances up to about 400 yards out and emits a small vibration when it has locked onto a target.

Pros:

  • 1-year manufacturer warranty
  • Accurate up to 400 yards
  • The lens is very clear

Cons:

  • No slope measurement option
  • The case doesn’t fit very well.

9. The TSKF M – 600VH

TSKF M-600VH

This rangefinder was very good with shot distances adjusted for slope. It was accurate for most of our targets so long as they were around 550 yards away or less. Plus, this thing looks really cool.

It has a continuous scan mode which keeps up very well as you pan across the terrain. All the distance and angle info is displayed very clearly through the 7x magnification adjustable lens.

Pros:

  • Has multiple outdoor applications
  • The lens is glare-resistant
  • Rechargeable battery via USB connection

Cons:

  • Hard to get any readings for objects 600+ yards away
  • It’s easy to lose the target while you are pressing the mode button

10. The Profey VPro X5

Profey VPRO X5

The Profey VPro X5 runs for about $130 and features pin lock vibration, slope measurement, a continuous scan mode and has ample range (we tested it on objects that were almost 1,000 yards out).

While it is one of the heavier golf rangefinders on our list (15.8 ounces which is probably due to the fact that it takes 2 CR2 batteries) it has pretty much everything you need to get accurate club distances and distances to the flag.

Pros:

  • Comes with a carrying case, cleaning cloth, lanyard and carabiner
  • It has one of the highest ranges of the devices on our list
  • Adjustable diopter lens

Cons:

  • It’s a bit heavy
  • The LCD display can be a bit hard to read when its sunny

Which one is the Best Buy?

This was a tough choice between the Callaway 300 Pro and the TecTecTec VPRO 500 because they both pack a lot of value into quality and accurate devices and they performed the best of all the rangefinders on our list. In the end though, we have to go with the Callaway 300 Pro.

While both these rangefinders were similar in regard to features and accuracy, we had to go with Callaway for the slight edge in quality. We also just preferred the look and feel of the Callaway. At under $200, any of these rangefinders would be a steal but we highly recommend looking at the Callaway Pro 300 first.
